A few answers and some clear cut, straight forward communication by those still participating on ’Team Cometa’ could have solved almost everyone of the “problems” that have been created from the lack of it.
And as far as tarver goes, I don’t know tarver from adams housecat. I don’t know if he is a he or she, 12 or 100, or anything else about him/her. I don’t know if he has been what you refer to as a troll or not. I am not gonna go back and look either, this is a new day.
I saw him asking some questions on here the other day, some of them were kind of far out to my way of thinking; but who really knows. Some of them were right on target also.
But as far as the questions highlighted in yellow above by “keen highlighter”……… every one of those is a valid question ask in a valid manner.
Do you all think he, me, or the few others that have asked are the only ones wondering God help you if you do……

It makes plenty of sense keengeorge. Teacher, as well as I, have found the information compiled here by teacher to be very informative in discerning what went wrong and how this could be improved for all participants of a given future group buy as opposed to the fortunate percentage who actually got a good light. Clear things up for you?
EDIT: you on the other hand seem far more inclined to blame the two or three people discussing the issues as opposed to those simply complaining about the discussion.
Well put bugsy36 and I am sorry for your loss as well as your health related issues! Input like this is very helpful. I think if there were more info posted with more specific insight into the processes of a GB, such as what you have posted here, it would help greatly.
Don’t lose track of the fact that this wasn’t a blf project. All of you folks looking for every little detail of how this project went down should be combing through the threads over at http://www.cpfitaliaforum.it/, because that’s where this light originated. Its their name on this light, not ours, and those organizers were never under any obligation to share every little detail with this forum or any other that joined in to buy their light. And while I’m sure there are some good intentions here when it comes to preventing future issues, do keep in mind that these issues didn’t occur under blf leadership. The buys organized and ran from here have not been free of their own drama for sure, but not to the level of the cometa by any stretch.
Great point emarkd! This was a collaboration with the Italian forum which makes this unique from other GB’s. I think there is still some valuable information based on what Cyberescudo has conveyed here at BLF, but you make a great point nonetheless.
I appreciate that Don. It has and is in “good faith” despite what some may say. It you will notice they are the same ones that never answer a straight forward question.
And yep, it has been an inordinate amount of time. Thank goodness I am retired from one job, and my ‘retirement business’ is in a slow time between spring break and the busy summer season… so I just dove in. That will all be changing in about a week though…….

I’m not even sure I’d call it a collaboration. To be clear, I didn’t buy the light and I didn’t follow it that closely, but I don’t think the cpfitaliaforum folks even asked for our input, or if they did it wasn’t much. They just gave us the opportunity to buy the light. Its no different from when we start up builds like the ongoing Q8 and then post it on candlepowerforums to try and get more buyers on the list.
Exactly……… Whether the GB is totally BLF or a collaboration with another forum “should” make no difference… if agreed upon parameters are followed from the beginning.
In my 64 years I have been involved in numerous group buys for a multitude of different things. I would have to totally agree with what someone said earlier about “new levels” being reached on this GB, they were correct.
I fail to see why some of us have been attacked, … for lack of a better word; for bucking the so called status quo. It is kind of sad and a very weak position you come from.
Some of you really should familiarize yourselves, it appears by your actions; with the psychological term… “projection”.
That is not meant as anything but what it is… an honest suggestion based on observation of your reactions here.
IF the organizers intention from the beginning was to tell us that Jaxman was making the light, while knowing that Manker would really be making the light, then the group buy would have to be classified as a scam.

You seem to be one that sees the glass half empty as opposed to half full keengeorge. First, your use of the term “intimidated” is complete hyperbole in this case. Maybe “offended” could be a possibility, but intimidated? Personally, I prefer to see the positive that is being done and the strive to continue making gains. I am a firm believer in the old adage “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. However, that doesn’t seem fully applicable here. There are some things that could be “fixed” (done better) and it is worth the effort to discern how whether successful or not. Certainly, attempting to improve is better than maintaining your cynical attitude while doing nothing. Hope that wasn’t too “intimidating” for you mate
I go along with everything except the “alternate identities” theory. And tarver is not really saying that here anyway, he is wondering though. I wonder how many others here on BLF are wondering………… ?
I have noticed this long before tarver mentions it above. Why will a few of you people answer no question that ask the hard thing?
It is obviously noticeable, and yes sir…… tarvers first sentence above is absolutely accurate. BUT, he makes no accusation or implication. He makes a statement because no answer has been given as to why the change from JAX Z1. A simple answer days ago would have done wonders to nip all this in the bud.
