Comparing AA/14500 headlamps for reading

Tonight I experimented with 3 different headlamps, for use reading a book:

An Emisar D2 dual channel with an NTG 2700K, this has the widest most even beam and gave the best coverage of the page of the book. The beam color is very pleasant. Anduril has the most customizable output, I set it to a useful brightness, and set it to the memorized the output. It measured 6.5 lumens on my light meter, . The Olight Perun2 Mini headband (similar to the Emisar headband), was not the most comfortable, the little strap that loops around the light has an end that rested on my forehead.. it was also a bit loose in holding the light.

A Skilhunt H150 w DeDomed 4500K 519a, the beam is evenly diffused by a beaded tir, the tint seemed nice and white, but the beam was a bit narrower than I would prefer. It has a 5 lumen mode (on AA) that worked well in terms of brightness. The clip for the light snapped. I ordered a spare Zebra headband and holder, to replace the broken one from the Skilhunt H150.

A Zebralight H53Fc N, beam has a bit of a hotspot plus diffusion, as it has frosted glass. The tint seemed greenish. It has a 6.5 lumen mode that worked well to light a page for reading. This is the most comfortable headband.

I put the D2 in the Zebra headband.. this is my best combination for reading. I think the new Single channel D2 would be even better. The slightly wider beam from the dual LEDs would be helpful. And the light is dual fuel.

btw, this is the most comfortable way to route the Zebra headstrap:

Dedome the Zebralight and add a little DC fix! It’ll beat the Skilhunt in runtimes and lumen options.

good suggestions, will them in mind

I never learned how to open a Zebra.. still scared to try

If you do, here are the measurements and lens replacement options. It’s worth it IMHO. 4000k dedomed is nice and rosy.

Those lenses are tiny, it’s one of the cheaper mistakes to make
