Wait, I didn’t know steak was on the menu! Which page was that? Oh, I see! In that case, I’ll have the 10 oz Ribeye! Forget the diet coke, make it a Dr Prepper!
What’s all the buzz about? I’ve got enough home-made “Soylent Green” to last 5 years and am seeking roads with more cyclists so I can increase my stock, maybe even open a used bike parts store
So I never decided whether this is awesome or disgusting or both but researchers are essentially working on ways to grow burgers.
I never figured out what hormones they use to keep the muscle cells replicating, but I wouldn’t be surprised if in a couple of years this method could be adapted to something viable in a disaster scenario if you really wanted a burger.
Now whether eating a burger grown in a petri dish is much less gross than eating mealworms is up to you.
I think it sounds cool, but it will probably never take off. The mealworm thing already has a huge head start in availability and price. Plus, mealworms may be bugs, but they’re real bugs, at least.
What may hurt mealworms, though, is that they are not just worms. They are beetle larvae. Who’s gonna want a box of beetles sitting on their kitchen cabinet making babies?
PETA’s gonna have a field-day too. They already claim that bee-farming (for honey) is ‘exploiting’ bees. Wait till they find out people are raising beetle larvae as cattle to be turned into meatloaf!
