I recently involuntarily acquired a Convoy C8s and thought I'd spruce it up a bit and see if anyone wants it. The emitter was dedomed in gas and reflowed onto a 20mm noctigon. In the interest of full disclosure I forgot about them in the dunking chamber and the dome mounting surface around the emitter is partially discolored. Let's just call it a patina. The emitter was very cold to start but warmed a bit after dedoming to a much more pleasing but still cool white tint. No green shift at all!
The emitter is regulated with Wight's single sided FET driver featuring STAR firmware with four modes in ascending order (Low-Med-High-Turbo) and off time memory. The driver spring was replaced with a brass button and the tail spring was resistance modded with 22 gauge wire. This light draws 4.4 amps off a sanyo pink top tool pack pull (not included). The reflector is OP and the lens is the stock glass that came with the light. See pics below.
It's 60 yards to the sugar shack.
Price includeing CONUS shipping is $45 $35. International buyers pay actual shipping.
First reply with "I'll take it" followed by PM gets the light.
I could have sworn there was a reply from Kodachrome commenting about the "involuntarily acquired" part of my post. I looked again and there it was,GONE!!! These gotta go, so price is reduced to $35 each or $65 for the pair.
Going a bit bigger than a solitare. Currently collecting parts for a 12 up Nichia 219 2D mag. I'm hoping to clear 1.5 amps per emitter. Now my physics problem is of a thermal nature!
Doing a “shower-head” type light, eh? I’ve thought about doing something like that, but with one of those 9LED 3xAAA cheapies you can get almost anywhere, simply replacing the emitters with a new PCB with 9x Nichias or Cree XP-E2’s or something like that. I would try to make it look as stock as possible, until it’s turned on! 8) The PCB would have to have a great thermal path, somehow.
No shower head, I think I can fit four triple noctigons into a mag head with a bit of metal work and regulate them off a zener modded FET driver. Your undercover cheapy light is an interesting idea though I wonder if it's one of those times when too much is actually too much. I tried to cram an MT-G2 into an incan mini mag and it was bright as hell at 7 amps, for about 5 seconds. Then major self destruction and meltage occured. But don't let me discourage you!
