Convoy Headlamp with Anduril

I own a couple of Convoy S2’s and have them programmed to 4 levels- low to high and no memory.
Is it possible to program any of the Convoy headlamps the same way? I tried to decipher that anduril UI chart but…

With Anduril 2, you essentially have access to at least 3 modes from off…hold for floor, click for memory, double click for ceiling/turbo, or configure ceiling distinct from turbo.

While it’s on, a double click will switch between current mode and ceiling/turbo, and a hold will ramp up, a second hold will ramp down.

Did you absolutely need all 4 modes, or would you be ok accessing 2 of the lower modes through a hold or a single click?

I believe convoy H series have anduril 1.0 as an option on some models. Like the s21e. Afact.

The text version of anduril 1.0 is here:

This may be easier to understand. The flowchart version took me a while to come to grips with also. Ivans text version helped. There is also youtubes taking you through it. Just make sure you are using the anduril 1 version. There is a LARGE difference between 1 and 2.

It’s interesting you asked that question. Occasionally I wonder if I could program my Wurkkis TS 10-SG to work like my Convoy T3 with the addition of a strobe included in the cycle. I haven’t found a way to do that after a few half hearted attempts, maybe I’ll try again today if we get snowed in like the predictions say we will.

It’s not neccessarily the number of power levels that are important to me, its the simplicity of use that I am looking for. For me a flashlight is a tool and needs to be simple to use. My 3 go to lights are a Ultratac A1 with 3 levels, Convoy S2 with 4 levels and a Zebralight H53 with 3 levels. None of them have memory or disco lights. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks for the link. Reading now

It’s nice to see you, dtf139!

I am not sure what the minimum number of steps that can be set in stepped ramping. But I thought that a way to get what you want might be to first set a minimum and maximum level, then a number of steps. That way you could get maybe three or four steps and still allow a double click for Max (turbo). It has been a while since I played with Andruil 1… But IIRC this should be possible.
I found this a great walk through when I first started using Andruil 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntIJTVm0cp4

Good lord. All this to figure out how to operate a flashlight.

Okay, After reading through the user manual on Github I think I can set the stepped ramping levels that I want and also turn off memory while in the advanced UI and then switch it to the simple UI and be done with it. The light will stay in simple UI mode and since it takes 10 clicks and hold to switch in and out of that mode there is very little chance of accidentally changing the function of the light.

Let me know if I’m wrong in my thinking.

Of course If you didn’t have very specific requirements you could just use the light with the stock settings. That makes everything very simple. The complexity comes in when trying to make a UI that does everything for everyone…AND only uses a single on/off switch for the programming input.

Anduril strobe can only be reached by 3H from off.
Strobe can not be reached from On.

Thanks, I figured it wasn’t going to be easy if there was a way.

Just as a point of possible interest, there is also a way to reach Strobe as a Tactical Momentary function.. iow, it is only On while the button is held down:

Tactical Mode

Click 6 times from Off to enter Tactical Mode, or 6 times in Tactical Mode to exit and go back to “Off”.

Tactical Mode provides instant momentary access to high, low, and strobe, but each of these is configurable. The inputs are:

  • 1H: High
  • 2H: Low
  • 3H: Strobe

The manual describes how to change those assignments, so you could set the light up in a way that makes 1H go direct to Tactical Momentary Strobe.

That’s a close as I got to getting what I wanted but that would mean switching modes when I didn’t want to use the tactical mode.

agree
imo easier not to use tactical momentary at all

just use normal modes with constant outputs
and switch off to then go to constant strobe (3H)
