I was sorting through boxes of lights and batteries and came across two of the original Convoy L2 hosts and a bunch of extension tubes. (I forgot I had them)
Talk about the possibilities for run time. Actually I could have made it 10 X 18650, but my arms weren't long enough to fit it in the picture.
i wonder if there's a buck driver that could buck down 6 - 10 18650s.

I guess you haven’t seen MRsDNF’s or Old-Lumens work merging multiple C8 reflectors into triples.
There might be an optic for that. I have a 50mm triple I believe, waiting to be used, wasn’t looking for anything larger, might be worth perusing the Ledil and Carclo sites, maybe even Fraen… (mostly found at Cutter)
Ledil has a 50mm Quad that looks interesting, the L2 can do 56mm so there would be room to actually fill the head with heat sink and have it wrap around the optics, such that they’d drop in. This would give optimum heat sinking and the glass lens would hold the optics into the spacer/sink.
It says 12º half angle with a MX6 emitter, whatever that is. Might have to shave the domes on the XHP-35’s, not a biggie. I’ve got 4 XHP-50’s in a Lucky Sun D80. 
Sure would be interesting, might hit 10,000 lumens or something. Worth checking out?
