Convoy M1 MTG2 Build

2x 18650

17mm MTN-Fet 20 mode

5000k MT-G2 "domed"

Convoy M1 + extension

This is going to be one badass light :)

Next to the m1 is a m2 ver2 with xhp50 "5a tint" 3.04a 2x18350 Mr Nobody Built pocket rocket

Looks awesome! Could you tell me where you got the M1 extension from?

i like your builds. the m1 is gonna have a real hard time handling the heat of the mtg2 tho.
i have a slightly modded m1 with only a xml2, and it already gets warm pretty fast.
none the less, your light is gonna be siiick.

Keep in mind folks i have done a MTG2 in a S3 with 4.44a driver. it worked fantastic until i decided to build a ZER res driver (partition board with wires) and smoked the mtg2 lol

M1 Build will start around 2PM today

Doubt the MT-G2 got smoked because of a direct drive, mine with that set-up in a Solarforce M8 was doing a little over 16A at around 4300 lumens. That kind of power without adequate heat sink, yeah, the emitter might well have overheated.

I’ve even run an MT-G2 in mule format in a chopped AA MiniMag with twin 14250 cells. Always fun to see what they can do and the tint is worthy wherever you install this big boy!

Happy Modding!

Remember the old Solarforce Skyline I? It had an XR-E emitter and a really really deep reflector, made a pencil beam that people played light saber with? I have an MT-G2 in one, the old mixed with the new. She pulls 5.85A from 2 Efest Purple 18350’s for 2094 lumens. Tightest beam I’ve ever seen from the big fat MT-G2.

OK Build is done here is a bunch of pics, draws a steady 5.665 Amps after 10 seconds with TWO RED Efest 18650s
I am going to try TWO Panny NCR18650Bs after there done by the time i post this i will be testing amp draw (its already CRAZY burning bright!)

pics

NCR18650B x2 gives me a Rock Solid 6.8amps! WoW!
so whats that….3500lumens?

and 2900lumens with RED Efest x2?

so where did you get your extension tube? does the anodization match the M1 body?

this sucks. neg lead came off inside of driver. so put it back now driver just does one mode and will do programming but it doesn’t change output….

looks like the extension tube is shaping up to be a trade secret :zipper_mouth_face:

Are you saying you ran it DD for 5min straight?

Sweet. I have to follow this just in case Mr. Nobody divulges where to get an M1 extension tube!

had it on for 10 seconds to get a wall photo and it flashed 3 times, the turned off. no clue. I took the d over outside and taped it to my 410 and blew it to bits. I ordered some new drivers and changed the led to a xhp50 much nicer light.

Dude, extension tube? I want one

I doubt it will work with the 2014 edition m2 though, eh?

Fasttech sells an extension tube that works with the M1. I’m not sure which, it was in one of the other M1/M2 MT-G2 for sale builds.

I just went looking, and I’m pretty sure it’s this one:

From what I remember from another thread, you may have to fiddle with it to get it to fit 100%, but that’s the extension tube. I don’t have the tube myself yet, so I can’t say if it’s a match on anodization, etc.

Seems like this one won’t fit the M1…in one of the reviews, it says it doesn’t fit the M1, S2, or S3.

I know, the other thread said it didn’t go over the o-ring without sanding down one or the other tube. Sorry I’m not sure which one, I’m running on about 3 hours sleep for the last couple days. Excuses, excuses… I unfortunately don’t have either item to test out at the moment, but if you look at the 3 rings at the bottom of the tube, they match with the flashlight that OP built.

Just baught this very extension tube and it definitely fits the tailcap of OLD Convoy M1.
However, as keithd mentioned, to make it fit the tube side perfectly it seems you have to sand down the inside of the extension tube (part that is supposed to go over the o-ring).
Goodluck with that though, you’ll most likely probably sand through the tube before it fits (as there isnt much). Easier to cut off the excess and not use the o-ring.

OR you could do what Mr. Nobody seems to have done and have the extension tube hanging on by one-thread. (You can see the o-ring in his pictures).

Well one mystery solved :D.

P.s. I tested with the NEW Convoy M1 and it does NOT fit.

If anyone has either of these could they test on the New Convoy M1? It looks like they might fit…

Thanks for reporting back. However since the threads on the M1 tube and tailcap are anodized, how would you make a electrical connection for the ground?
