How far will a Convoy M21A SFT25R throw light?
Also wondering if it would have more throw than my Wurkkos TD01C.
I don’t have a quantitative answer for you but I swapped an SFT40 to a SFT25R in a C8 and while the difference in throw was noticeable it wasn’t drastic. I’d guestimate maybe 20-25% more throw, but unfortunately I don’t have beamshots and am just going off of memory. The Wurkkos seems to have a decently larger head diameter which will help with throw, but overall throw would also depend on how hard each emitter is being driven.

There are multiple reports of people getting around 1000m with the M21A/C8 and SFT25R, with 8A drive current. This is about as much throw as the TD01C, possibly a bit more. Despite the larger head, the TD01C uses a less intense emitter and has horrible efficiency (1200lm versus 2200lm from the L21B with the same emitter). Whenever a TD01C is in consideration, the L21B is almost surely a better choice.
