i’m looking to upgrade from 18650 (C8+) to a 21700 dedicated thrower with internal charging. was looking at the IF21A till i saw Piercing The Darkness’ excellent review of the M21E. i assume the far shots are on turbo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXGjnrGJTq4 however, i can’t find any reviews of the M21D. any of you flashaholics have both? there is no mention of tint on convoys site for the SFT40. are they 5700k bins? do they appear white, or blueish? hard to tell since not all cameras/monitors agree. i know they are greenish at lower levels. (which is fine) worth waiting for 5000k? :weary:
i like the side switches, buck regulation, and internal charging. :+1: wasn’t considering a Convoy til now since i’ve never seen these features in the past.
The M21C/D has a 60 degree spill beam angle. It is somewhere in between being a flooder and a thrower. The side switch/USB-C M21 and M3 options are lacking a true flooder, but have multiple options of being throwy(ish).
oh i see. what about the M21E? looks like a hell of a thrower to me from the reviews. a wider hot spot then my C8+ which i always felt was a bit small. great range though at 50%.
ok, so it looks like the M21E from youtube reviews is not your typical ‘laser sword’ thrower. it’s a bit wider like you said.
which for me makes the light with it’s larger hot spot more practical for my purposes vs the extra range of traditional ‘throwers’.
this might be my next light. anyone know how many Amps the driver is pushing on the M21E?
