I have a few S2+ with the old filmware.
So now I really love the BLF A6 so was wondering if I can just buy a few A6 drivers and do a straight driver swop.
My question is will the S2+ LED handle the extra current and heat from the BLF A6 driver?

Yeah typically you’ll be good to go as long as the S2+ is either an XM-L2 or XP-L. The S2+ driver is soldered to the brass pill that screws in however which can be a hassle for a weak soldering iron.

Yes, the S2 can handle the A17ddl but in short busts. You should be able to run it at turbo for around 60-90 secs before the head gets blazingly hot.

Hey Tony,

I have recently been changing some of my Convoy lights over to THIS driver, it has Biscotti firmware which has far more options than the original Convoy firmware and you won’t have to worry about molten aluminum

No you will have to change the LED to a direct thermal path copper board (mcpcb) or else the LED will over heat on turbo mode goblue and burn out. New LED boards are fairly cheap if you want to save cost you can reflow the original LEDs onto the new boards.

This is what I was worried about ,what size board would I need ?

The last Convoy I ordered I did ask Simon to install the Biscotti .Yes its much better but even with the 8 x 7135 driver the high modes cant compare with the BLF A6 output.

16mm MCPCB

Hey mate you need a 16mm board depending on where you live Kaidomain is a good place to buy DTP LEDs, You can also buy them from International outdoors and Fasttech should be cheaper shipping to you than buying from USA.

Beam pattern and output will probably stipulate what LED you buy i will just add a link of an example. This would be a similiar setup to your BLF A6. There is a code (BLF) it gives you 5% off. I think there may be an active 10% coupon still I’ll try and find it.

Thanks for the help I think I will swap out the boards as well .
