Yesterday I received the grey Convoy S2 host I ordered from mtnelectronics and as luck would have it the kester liquid rosin I ordered elsewhere was delivered today. Being a little impatient I filed out the retaining ring, soldered a xml2 u3 3d to a 105c with lucidrv I ordered from DrJones many months ago. Couldn’t have gone smoother.
I haven’t changed the modes yet but am impressed by the three preset levels and the pre-configured double tap access to ‘turbo’. I’m looking forward to digging into the customization options built into the firmware.
To be honest, I’m surprised at how much I like the result. I had expected the S2 to feel small in my hand but it doesn’t. The light as assembled produces a bright diffuse hot spot with useful though not excessive spill and the color is very much to my liking. The slight rosieness is a bit like the color of my blf a01.
It seems I’ll have to order another S2 host from RMM and another lucidrv from DrJones to build the triple I had originally planned.
