Convoy S2+ replacement switch

Hi folks

I have several Convoy S2+ lights. Two of them (a red and blue) have the metal switch. The switch on the blue one seems to have gone bad. It was working then today was off and on then pretty much off. I put the red Convoy tail section on it and it worked just fine. When putting the blue tail end back on it was still not working. So what should/can I change out the switch with? Does Richard at M.E. have anything? I’ve done ‘some’ modding but never had to do anything with the switch before. I’m assuming that the metal button stays and it’s the internals that are replaced? If you’ve got a link I’d appreciate it.

Thank you

Yeah the metal part is just a cover. You can buy the internals directly from Convoy on their Aliexpress store. I’m on mobile or I’d link you. I’ll try to check back later though. It’s an easy swap, just spin the retaining ring out and swap the whole assembly.

The switch itself is just an Omten 1288, available many places. Simon or Richard may be able to sell you one already on a pcb so it’s a direct swap without any soldering.

Like emarkd said, the metal part is just a cover.

Is there any slop in the activation? It’s easier to tell with rubber button covers but sometimes due to stack heights the switch is preloaded which prevents the contacts from closing. Changing out the switch and pcb might not fix this.

Have you tried loosening and tightening the switch retaining ring to see if that helps the problem?

This is the replacement switch in Simon’s store.

Appreciate the posts fellas

I’ll try loosening/tightening the ring to see if it fixes the problem. If not, appreciate the link for the replacement.

You can remove the whole switch pcb and make contact with the battery tube and test it

I just replaced the switch with a McClicky >>>
