I saw this yellow LEP module on AliExpress:
Some weeks after it arrived home ![]()
It was just a normal LEP module with a pass yellow/reflect blue glued on top! Still cool!
Very very yellow!! And with a nice blue reflection when off!
Then I started thinking how to put this into a flash light, and this was the result:
I made a frank stein with a brass tube (a shaft coupler), cut a thread to fix the module and adjust the space to the lens and a set screw to keep it in place.
Then this weird cooper sheet spacer to hold the Convoy 2A boost driver in a distance to fit a 18350 battery.
After pressing this monster on the head:
I added a plastic spacer on front of the lens to hold it in place with the front window.
Assembled and loaded with a 18350:
Some beamshots:
The spill is terrible for a LEP and there is also this bigger circle. A guess it’s because the blue reflection from the dichro illuminates the full phosphor piece:
Comparison with a Lumintop Thor Mini:
Even with the big spill I’m pretty happy with the build! Very cool effect at night!
Unfortunately the camera can’t pick how yellow this thing is…
