Convoy S21B with KW CULPM1.TG vs NOCTIGON KR1 with W2 emitter

How would these two compare?

KR1 has bigger head, produces a more focused (smaller) beam.

S21B a bit smaller head, so it’s a bit less focused hotspot.

all beamshots below with manual camera setting: ISO 800, aperture f/2.8, ‘daylight’ white balance ; flashlight is about 18 meters / 60 feet from the opposite wall

shutter speed at 1/10th second and 1/100th second

I) camera shutter speed: 1/10th second

a) Convoy S21B (CULPM1.TG, 6 Amp driver)

b) Noctigon KR1 W2 (CSLPM1.TG)

II) camera shutter speed: 1/100th second

a) Convoy S21B (CULPM1.TG, 6 Amp driver)

b) Noctigon KR1 W2 (CSLPM1.TG)

other observation: the CSLPM1 LED on the KR1 appears to be “cooler” (more bluish) than the CULPM1 LED on the S21B.

The KR1 with the W2 emitter is rated at 100,000cd on the Intl Outdoor website.

I’ve recorded mine at over 94,000cd which is pretty close.

I know the S21B looks like it could have a similar sized reflector, but I don’t think it does. It is just a tube light. I also can’t see any throw figures at all from Convoy on it. So I’m guessing it probably isn’t the the best thrower.

The reflector looks really shallow. It would be interesting to know the cd for it. I’m thinking less than half that of the KR1, maybe even only a 3rd.

At farther distances, the difference is even clearer

(flashlight to opposite building around 150 meters / 400 feet)

Thanks, dta!

I own the KR1 w2, And I am buying the s21b CULPM1 ( bc I love the 21b host and the CULPM1 emitter in my other lights). When I get it I’ll post some beam shots as well, I live in the middle of nowhere (there is basically no light pollution on my property except when there’s a full moon).
