I have the Wurkkos HD12 with Vapecell F15 (flat top, I thing it’s called) and the Convoy T6 with H10 (button top). I thought of using HD12 as a charger for T6. It works, as the HD12 takes and charges both.

But the flat top F15, which worked for a few minutes in the T6 doesn’t want to power T6 anymore. H10 works fine. I suspect the ‘flat top’ may be the culprit.

Is that how it is supposed to work?

It says on the Convoy website that the T6 is only compatible with button top batteries so I’m surprised a flat top worked at all.

That’s ‘flat top’?

FTs may or may not be “flat”, depending on the wrap. Sometimes it protrudes juuuuuuuuuuuust enough to make contact, especially if squished down by the rear spring.

Other times, the wrap is juuuuuuuuuuust thick enough to keep the center from making contact.

Just for “testing”, I used a single FT in a Q8, and the slight twisting of that contact ring was enough to make decent(-enough) contact with the cell.

I wouldn’t use it with multiple cells in parallel, though, because if, say, A makes contact and B doesn’t, the A might run down to 3.0V and B stays at 4.2V. One wrong jiggle, then B suddenly makes contact, and now you have a crowbar across the cells so that B current-dumps into A for both voltages to equalise… Very Very Quickly. :fire::exploding_head::fire:

yes

Convoy has components around the positive contact button in the head, that are taller than the positive contact button in the head.. These prevent contact if a battery is inserted backwards..

Convoy calls it Physical reverse Polarity protection..

although flat tops can also work, it is not reliable because the battery is being lifted by the raised components, and that sometimes prevents a flat top battery from making good contact:

you should plan on only using Button Top batteries in your Convoy T6

Unrelated to batteries but pertaining to T6: I’ve read somewhere that the T6 has a GITD gasket. I don’t think mine does. Convoy sells extra gaskets, but I can’t figure out what size is needed, would it work with the T6 reflector, and whether it is indeed phosphorescent. Could someone enlighten me please?

14 mm - PCB board spacer for battery, for series connection, increase the length to fill the gap - Convoy flashlight

Mine does not have a GITD gasket.

imo, waste of time
though glow O rings do glow, a little, its not a very large surface area and is not very bright after the first few minutes from turning the light off.. iow, barely visible glow

however, that opinion is not from direct experience w convoy T6 glow O ring.. it is just my impression of other lights I have had with glow in the dark O rings

I dont know which glow O ring your T6 could use.. you could measure the lens diameter and buy the closest size.. then form your own first hand opinion..

I have a Convoy S6 with a GITD O ring and my experience is the same as yours - barely visible after a few minutes.

I wonder how would the 519a do in the T6? Does anybody have this combination?

519a is a great LED and in stock form (not dedomed), it produces and excellent large round hotspot in a Reflector with clear lens (such as T6 uses)..

good luck w your shopping decisions

I have an S7 with a 519, that’s the same reflector as in the T6. It throws pretty well but won’t rival an SFT.

Depending on how warm you like your light, the 3000K SFT40 is glorious, high CRI and warm like an incandescent.

With the Nichia it’s OP, isn’t it?

Yes it is. Simon does sell an OP reflector for the S6 / S7 / T6 and that’s the one you get by default with the 519. I have tried a SMO reflector in the T7, it didn’t increase throw by much and it made the beam ugly so I went back to the OP.
