Do you think it would be more significant if it was 15 lights and 15 different people? That makes little sense to me.

When I was in QA and did defect tracking, it was strictly by the number of a specific defect encountered. Never where the part or assembly ended up being used, much less where it was delivered.

Let me be the devil’s advocate.
We have 15 lights that show the same error, those 15 lights only have one thing in common: It’s owner, you. So what he means is that there is the possibility, that you have just done the same error 15 times in a row, which is unlikely if it would be 15 different people.
For example - you just put in the same depleted battery in every one of the lights that made the 0.1% mode not work because of a too low voltage. Or something like that.

I don’t know you, so I have no Idea how likely this is.
I have nearly every Convoy light here and I only had a driver failure once which was resolved quickly by Simon, of course.

Yes, i think it would be more significant because 15 different people/places shows a trend. 1(i believe commercial customer) says a possibly 1batch/shipment/unique problem or screw-up.
As i said, i reserve judgment until i learn more.
At this point, who knows?
Now if i was in QC for simon, i would alert him.

Tho i think the QC here IS simon.

Well it wasn’t me that got the lights… But @PiercingTheDarkness didn’t “do” anything. The lights simply had drivers that were built incorrectly. This is a manufacturing defect, bot a user error. It still should be tracked as the number of defects over the total built. As Convoy is a relatively low volume (per specific light configuration) vendor the number may be significant, regardless of who got them or the number of people involved. Yes we need to get more information. In any case, this should serve as a warning for others that are getting lights with the same configuration. Hopefully Simon will give us an explanation and will insure that it doesn’t happen in the future.

UPDATE:

Everyone can stop worrying about the 17mm 8A Buck Driver, what I have is the 2.5v 2.5A Buck Driver for the red emitters, someone at Convoy installed the wrong drivers.

That’s very, very good news, phewww.

Little bit annoying on my end to swap out 15x units but easily done. Just pleased it wasn’t a batch issue. I just hope this kind of thing was a one off.

Easy mistake I guess, they do look fairly similar.

Can everyone chip in with some feedback, I’m really trying to do the right thing when I notice potential issues.

Should I have waited for Simon’s response before sharing on here? or was it fine to simply request others to inspect their drivers?

A comment on reddit is that I should never have shared anything to begin with. I just thought it would be okay to just have a discussion about it as would anyone receiving any new purchase.

If you don’t think I should then I won’t in the future.

For most ppl, that is fine IMO. However, as a vendor who deals with dozens and hundreds of Convoys, your word carries more weight, with which comes more responsibility. Thus I would try to first resolve directly with Simon and only after that share the issue and its resolution (or lack thereof) with the rest of us.

I appreciate your work and effort you put in to help improve Convoys for us all.

Bit odd what happened, even the gasket is for the SST20 DR. Hopefully, it’s just the 15x units that were shipped out like this, depends whether they’re assembled all at once in bulk, or to each buyer’s order. Not sure how Convoy does things.

Very interesting that the Osram red is dimmer than the SST20-DR. Probably because the Osram’s 630nm corresponds to a higher Vf than the SST20’s 660nm.

In this case, given the much higher Vf of the blue-pumped CSLNM1.TG, @MineHack7488 should expect the moonlight to not light up at all.
