But many people like the S21A/S21B form factor. It is perfectly good size for medium output levels. Most people only use the highest output mode for a minute or less so size is not a problem. I think it would be super interesting to have a S21A/S21B host with USB-C and FC40 or B35AM emitter.

Thanks for demonstrating Convoys GUI so clearly. Was wondering about that. Been meaning to pick a side switched Convoy and compare it to Anduril to see if it fits my preferences. But just haven’t gotten around to it yet. Any idea how easily side switched Convoys are to modify compared to the tail switch ones?

Love the drone shots btw. Flying at night next to what looks to be powerlines

Thank you. I can fly the drone to the exact spot in the day and record waypoint, then tap on it and I don’t have to do much else

Changing out the driver of the M21E would interesting since the switch is on the driver itself. Look at the new M21F, that one looks better, although it still has the same switch design

Those are low Cri.
Anyway so less expensive than FC40 Led that doesn’t fit small EDC host and require boost driver

Both lights, S21A/B, are already available with the B35AM emitter.

I have defective M21E driver and there are two PCBs of it. Switch is soldered on main PCB. Also I think M21F use the same driver from M21E.

Is Simon still answering here? Since his store is closed for the holidays?

Just got in a nice grey S21A with B35AM. It has smoke/mist inside the reflector when on high. I have tried placing the head (without disassembly) close to a dehumidifier pack for 48 hours in an enclosed cabinet, but it doesn’t help.

Have plenty of Convoy S2+. This is the first time I’ve encountered this smoke/mist issue.

Could be trapped humidity, could be from residual flux or thermal paste…often running the light on a higher mode for awhile will clear it up, sometimes loosening the bezel to allow a little air/moisture escape, then wipe the lens clean as needed. Pretty common among several manufacturers when they may be assembling lights in conditions where room air isn’t ideal. Make sure the emitter surface is clean before you run it on high. And don’t clean/touch the inside of the reflector if at all possible.

Quite a few of my Convoy lights have hazy/foggy reflectors. It’s not ideal but I don’t worry about it because it doesn’t seem to affect performance. Trying to clean the reflector will only make things way worse.

If there is actually moisture or condensation inside the head, you can try unscrewing the head and placing it in a sealed bag of rice overnight.

I had the same problem. I have noticed similar “smoke residue”, if something burns inside the reflector. I cleaned reflector as well as I could and replaced the black centering gasket with white one. Seems like that did the job. No more smoke residue accumulating on surfaces. Regular 3535 gasket was good fit for this Nichia.

My cleaning method with good success percentage is to use plenty of warm water with high pressure. First rinse the reflector with water. Then a drop of some dishwashing stuff to wet reflector and to wet finger tip. There can’t be any friction between finger and reflector so keep adding dish soap regularily. Finger must glide on top of the water and dishwashing soap combination. About same principle that glide bearings use to avoid contact between metals. Finger should never touch the shiny parts. I have ruined few reflectors before mastering this.

Yes, but only in 4500k. I’ve already bought an M21b with an GT FC-40 in 4500k that is currently in transit. I’ve really been wanting a Convoy light with a really warm emitter like the E21a 2000k. Well, we’re finally getting a warm emitter option of 1800-2000k, but it appears it’s only going to be available in larger body lights. This really doesn’t make sense for myself since in a 2000k light I’m running it at max 10% power using it as a candle in my room, or at a campsite. Something like a 21700 tube light is perfect. With a 45* TIR and a magnet in the tail it would be my perfect relaxing around camp light.

I’ve never “built” a flashlight before, but considering just doing an S2+ with 4 E21a’s in 2000k. I’ve found a company the appears to make a board specifically for this.

@Techno, Just unscrew the pill, wipe off the lens and let the parts sit out for a little bit. If all looks good after that, put it all back together and enjoy!

Thanks all for answers. It’s not a “foggy” reflector, where the reflector has a layer of dried moisture on it. I know some of the older S2+ have this. Likely reflector left in humid environment for too long.

This S21A issue is smoke/mist appearing and moving between the lens and reflector when on high 100% mode. I’ll try unscrewing the pill and letting it air for a little while.

Exactly this. Cooling capacity doesn’t matter, if it will sell.

Well, Simon, is it a battery problem, driver, or software bug?

So Simon’s store for the Chinese New Year – a well-deserved break. However, I have this banner and no way can access the store for some technical info or maybe place things in my wish list.

Hitting the “Back to homepage re-directs to AE.
And then the banner covers the dates.

So I blocked those elements (UBlock Origin) but the Products dropdown or search results in “Sorry, no matches were found for your refined search”.

Someone left quickly and hadn’t seen this problem? Or is it a typical thing each year?

I guess this makes sure no one places any orders and mistakingly presumes it goes through.

Don’t forget the FC40 is a 12V emitter. Not sure, but the driver might contribute to heating more than usual. Don’t know if it makes a noticeable difference in reality though.

This is normal every year. That’s how Simon goes on holiday
