Yesterday, I received my second HS20 and noticed a drop on the LED, probably flux. I haven’t turned on Turbo yet, because I suspect that this drop might damage it. Decided to ask here: should I remove it or will everything be fine? Does the SFT40 have a protective coating? If I wipe it with alcohol, won’t it damage the luminophore?

It took me a while to see the problem.
Yeah, that doesn’t look good, but I don’t know what the solution is.
By the way, this is not a Sofirn thread, if you didn’t know.

Sorry for asking this question here. But for some reason I didn’t find the Sofirn thread. But since the question is about the LED and not the flashlight, I decided that it would be okay.

You need a Q-Tip and some alcohol or break cleaner to get this done.
I would write Sofirn about that. SInce they are making more and more flashlights nonrepairable, they should at least get their QC better than that.

It should throw about 100klux/1m (maybe more) even with OP reflector, especially paired with 6V 5A driver.

If left untreated, this drop of flux, once turbo’ed, will fog up all the optical surfaces and leave a brown residue that subsequently burns up. The best course of action would be to have the unit replaced, but if that is not feasible, gently wiping with alcohol is the next best thing. The SFT40s on the market at this time do have a protective coating that prevents alcohol from dissolving the phosphor.
Next time, I would suggest starting a separate topic. This has the advantage of
- Not clogging up the Convoy thread, since the issue/emitter at hand is not Convoy-specific, and
- Greater visibility of the topic, both for those who can help you and for those who would later find your topic helpful.

Yes I would buy this. I’ve checked and have been disappointed you still haven’t got LHP531 on any host with USB-C and side switch. So yes, either M21E and M21F would be a very interesting choice.

TIme to learn how to reflow out the SST40 and reflow in the LHP531 or to build a flashlight out of a host

Hi Simon, any progress on this quad 519a for M21H? Is heat management a problem? This would be the only quad 519a light with side switch and USB-C on the market. My only other choice is Hank D4K but more expensive and no USB-C charging.

S21E can be had with LHP531.
Wurkkos TS26S has all those things.

So you can swap the LED from (I assume) SFT40 to LHP531 (both 3V) but you can’t swap SFT70 to XHP50.3 (both 6V 5050 size)?

Thanks. I was not aware of either of these 2. That Wurkkos is pretty nice. I was looking for 519a 4500k but 5000k equally great.
Acebeam e75 is quad nichia.

This can be installed directly in the m21h flashlight. But the current through each led is only 2.5 amperes. I think it is enough to use 219led. Do you mean to raise the current?

Hi Simon,
is there such a model, M21K?

I put in a LHP531 5000K in a Sofirn SC29 and I love it so far, so I had to order a couple more…

And another order today…

@Simon_Mao
Will you offer the Convoy M21E black flashlight with a 4000K XHP50.3 HI R70 emitter and OP reflector?

Now I can test these, hopefully done until end of next week.
