Some beamshots comparison between UF1407(mod with XPLv5) , NE01 , CrelantVA4(xplHi) , the Xhp70+78mm aspheric is about 3x brighter than UF1407 .
-Could have been more compact at the tailcap.
-Decent quality budget light but not excellent .Around ‘trustfire’ quality.
-Not fully powered 6vXHP70 ~ 2.1a/12v
-Pricy
I have no way to tell accurately, its not a super thrower but neither is it a flooder. The massive 80x60mm reflector does help. i would guess it around a Tk75 throw range, perhaps 700m.
It sucks about 25w of power and sinced it 3s 12v, A simple Xhp35Hi swap could theoretically make it a super thrower giving 2klumen of throw light. i have not mod it yet because im still playing around with the 78mm aspheric lens but its a interesting possibility to explore. The Lop reflector would affect max throw potential and i have no idea if Xhp35 would become direct driven in unregulated mode since its a buck driver but I should try it :+1:
Im using 30mm height 78mm aspheric but there a deeper 35mm height 78mm high transmission aspheric at fasttech which will give a narrower beam. The beam aura is stretched conical pyramid like. im guessing a xhp50 driven fully with the stock driver plus the 35mm fasttech 78mm aspheric will give a almost straight beam, or a mtg2 will give a beautiful round circle.
Im disappointed with the under powered stock driver so i pop in a 12v xhp35hi and it works with a very tight beam but it was still weaker than my direct driven 3cell xhp35hi X6. :weary: so im thinking of putting in xml2 u4 to drive it really hard with the stock buck driver instead.
The stock xhp70 was on a 26mm aluminium pcb and it sits in a machined 2mm deep circle into the entire integrated head assembly. The standard 1.6mm by 20mm hexagonal star can be mounted inside the 20mm deep 26mm wide machined circle with the reflector well focused without the need for any spacer ,provided the soldered wires was thin and flat.
