(Nasdaq: CREE), a market leader in LED lighting, announces the new 1000 lumen LMR4 LED module, delivering 66 lumens per watt efficiency in a fully-integrated solution for downlight applications where high-quality light is essential such as commercial, retail and residential.

Featuring Cree TrueWhite® Technology, the LMR4-1000 module provides higher quality light and efficiency, using 42 percent less input power, than 26 watt compact fluorescent (CFL) bulbs. The LMR4-1000 is also the only commercially available 2700 K LED module to deliver 1000 lumen output at more than 90 CRI, which can replace 100 watt incandescent bulbs in downlight applications.

The Cree LED Module LMR4-1000 integrates driver electronics, optics and primary thermal management, making the compact Cree module drop-in-ready. Designed to last 35,000 hours and dimmable to 5 percent, the LMR4-1000 module is available in color temperatures of 2700 K, 3000 K, 3500 K and 4000 K with more than 90 CRI.

If I could get those at a decent price, every CFL bulb in the house would be gone immediately. They would appear to be 15W devices so might need additional cooling.
Wonder what the modules cost?
I assume this is going to be a many-multiple die LED?
I think this is the obvious target for them, if they can get their LED's in everyones home they might as well start printing their own money.
They just need to get the right price.

Only vaguely related, I went to buy a replacment lightbulb to replace a flickering CFL. Over the last few years you've been able to buy them in supermarkets for very low prices - 10p each or so.
This seems no longer to be the case, I checked Morrisons and Asda and they now seem to be £2-3.
Evaluation packages are $199. What Cree really wants to do is produce everyday lighting that it can sell to everyone. These don't seem to be anything like regular light bulbs and obviously at this price they aren't really close, but they're going in the right direction.
