The CUKTECH 10 P Series PB100P is a relatively pocketable power bank with USB-C input/output (90W/120W), USB-A output (33W), a colour display, and a button to control it.
I recently noticed a deal on ozbargain for ZMI and CUKTECH brands of power banks. ZMI caught my eye because I already have a ZMI QB826G.
In the comment section, Mostly Melbourne asked if any technical writers would be interested in reviewing some samples.
I have been testing and reviewing flashlights and battery chargers for a few years now. With a dozen power banks at home, I figured that I should review power banks too.
Mostly Melbourne kindly sent this power bank for review. I have not been paid for this review nor have I held back my opinions of this power bank.
I’m in need of a smaller power bank and despite the unfortunate brand name, the smaller 10,000mah 30W they do is at the top of my list.
I appreciate they’re different models but your review of the PB100P has given me some confidence in the PB100 model; it seems like apart from the name, this company knows how to make a decent powerbank. The 30W is about all I need for a “daily carry” size powerbank.
I agree with your comment regarding lipo based powerbanks Vs cylindrical cells, I will accept the weight & volume penalty for 18650/21700 cells!
I’d recommend getting a power bank from a reputable retailer with a good refund policy (e.g. Amazon).
I bought a ZMI QB826G from Taobao while in China. It arrived at 0% and it later self-discharged within a week. I got a replacement but then I returned to Australia and the replacement (new sealed packaging) had the same issue. Getting a replacement while overseas wasn’t viable because it’s expensive to ship a powerbank from Australia. And now there’s a 3C mark requirement while flying in China so I probably can’t bring it back a year later.
I’m not sure if the Taobao seller was selling old faulty stock… but you can avoid that hassle if Amazon or the retailer has a good return and refund policy.
That’s why I’m checking the standby drain when testing.
I think ZMI became CUKTECH.
I’m pleasantly surprised with the PB100P and the PB200U. They don’t appear to have the same standby drain issue.
I may have just been unlucky with the QB826G. In hindsight, it was massively overkill to carry while travelling in China. I ended up buying a small Xiaomi powerbank and using that while there instead and it was enough to keep my phone working each day.
