Custom BLF A6 cree - question about tint

Hello everyone,
I’m looking at ordering one of these BLF A6 specials but i am unsure what effect the options for 1A, 3D and 5A have on the tint? Could someone please enlighten me so i know which i’d be better of ordering? Thanks for your time.

I think it’s mostly personal preference. 1A is pure white, 3D is a golden neutral colour, and 5A is a rosy orangey colour. Funny thing is that I like them all.

I have the 3D and it is indeed a golden neutral.

What surprised me is that compared to the bare 3D emitters I purchased from Mountain Electronics, the A6’s 3D is noticeably more yellow. At a guess I’d say the A6 is 300-500K warmer in color temp. both tints are quite nice though.

I have always purchased cool white lights in the past (like the 1A) but I decided to order the 3D tint with my A6 and I couldn’t be happier. It seems much more natural. It’s a great tint. But it is all about personal preference.

Thank you all for your help and explanations. I’m looking for a neutral/yellow colour as I find that tint more natural and therefore preferable when working in dark conditions over bright white. 3D is what I’ll be going for then. Thanks again for your help, can’t wait to get my first new light in a while. It’s been far too long!

CRI between 1A, 3C, and 5A? Anybody actually do a technical CRI measurement for these 3 different tint?

I own only the 3D (there is no 3C) version, so I can not compare to the other two bins, but I tried to measure the Color Rendering Index (Ra) with my spectrometer. I found it very difficult to get a consistent and meaningful measurement, because it differs between the used light mode, spill and hot spot region and with and without lens and reflector. :~ I haven’t found a recommendation by Cree or another manufacturer how to measure the color temperature and CRI, so the best I could do was to use a clear diffusor (I got with a Fenix PD32UE) in front of the light. That being said, the Color Rendering Index (Ra) of my 3D version (mode 7/turbo) is around 70 to 72(max) with a color temperature around 4750K.

I love my 5A. Closer to a Neutral in my experience with about a 4000k temp. Surprised how nice they were in this run.
