Any one familiar with this light? Looks like a nice EDC light but minimal info on the web site. A email to the owner indicated that it has approximately 800 OTF Lumens on maximum. I am tempted to order the 4 level version as I like SS and Ti lights for EDC just from their wear resistance even though heavier than aluminum.
The Customlite looks decent enough, but +1 on the Convoy S7, just as well buld probably, it has exactly the same internals, costs less than half, and at Fasttech it comes with a great choice of emitters and drivers:
That is actually XM-L2. All my Convoys that listed as XM-L came with XM-L2 from Simon. I’m quite surprised with the build quality of my $11 S2+ from the Simon’s promotion a few weeks ago. To OP, spend your $70 on other premium lights.
Seeing as how on the same page as the light you linked to the same seller is offering 5000 mAh 18650 Ultrafire batteries I would not do business with him. Lying and false advertising claims turn me off totally if I recognize them. IMO UltraFire cells should be renamed UltraLiar. The best way IMO to discourage sellers with lying listings is to refuse to do business with them.
That vendor you listed sell Ultrafire cells too. I was going to say you may have to avoid all Chinese vendors if you feel that way, but Customlites is an American vendor. I like the sentiment, but it may be too restrictive. I'm fine just not buying those Ultrafire cells. I've only spent a single penny on Ultrafire cells. Fasttech is one of the exceptions to Chinese vendors, in that they often try to post a tested capacity in addition to what the manufacturer claims.
I do not object to UltraFire batteries per se but do object to them when they claim impossible capacities. Of course, based on the info I have seen, apparently NO Ultrafire battery has the factory claimed capacity. I did not note CustomLites offering any of the totally ridiculous capacity claim UltraFire batteries but I do respect American sellers more who stick with only selling the better battery makers. I do respect Fasttech’s effort to tell the truth regarding the outrageous battery manufacturer capacity claims.
I do have some UltraFires bought years ago but I am now a reformed character.
Well, Ultrafire cells don't really have a factory claimed capacity. Various vendors buy labels printed with Ultrafire on them and wrap whatever cells are at hand, various Chinese cells, pack pulls, new or used, who knows? There's no factory directly involved most of the time.
I figured toss the cell and charger, swap the driver and the silly GITD o-ring and you'd save $40-45.
Just so you realize you're tilting at windmills, good luck and go get 'em.
