I bought the light about a month ago, and have been using NiMH batteries, so it hasn’t needed much heatsinking, but i now have some lithiums on order
The pill is not screwed in, and is not very tight, when i take off the head i can turn the flashlight upside down the pill falls out. The pill does have very slight side to side travel, less then 1mm. When theres 2.8amps running through it will this be a problem for heat transfer to the light body?
Do i need some form of conductive thermal grease?
I don’t have a Cyclone C88 yet but if there is 1mm of slop in the pill and it isn’t threaded you will want to wrap it, not use thermal grease/epoxy. I thought those were press fit in really tight? :~
mine was not press fit, its less then 1mm but its not tight
Wrap it if you can. Far better than thermal compound.
Curious. There’s no play whatsoever in mine. I can pop it out if I try hard enough, but it’s very secure. If yours is loose, I would definitely consider it to be a fault.
I have two Cyclones; the pill in the first one I bought from IO is tight/does not fall out. The other one I bought from another member (he got it from IO too) the pill falls out and it is very loose.
Of note I think; my MCU-C88 does not do that.
