I can get the following D-C-Fix sheets locally in England:
Milky
Opal
Matt sand
Snow
I am told that snow adds artifacts. Does anyone know the differences between the milky, opal and sand? I believe all are 0.1 mm thick. Advertising photos suggest that opal is a bit less diffusing than milky, I don’t even know if matt sand is translucent. The worst case is that I order samples of each, and compare them by eye. I have some from Boaz that I bought ten years ago, I don’t know which kind that is. It seems thick, certainly more than 0.1 mm, but I might be mistaken.
I’m not a thrower fan, I prefer some nice spill but not too much for walking at night.
Think I’ve got the sand variant, I ordered the minimum quantity I could 7 years ago and still have most of it left. It’s like that texture you get on slightly rough surface plastics- like the door or footwell plastic on a car.
I’m not in the UK at the moment else I’d offer to send you some in an envelope!
Also not sure what the adhesive is like after all these years, most instances I cover the whole lens then screw the bezel down ontop to really make sure it doesn’t come off!
Thank you. The D-C-Fix I bought from David Allen in 2011 (I found the envelope) is I think sand, and it is now known as milky. It matches your description. I’ve had it in my lights for 14 years, so I guess it’s durable. I put it on the inside surface of the lens. Ideally I’d like to find a thinner film.
