D cell nimh... Y U NO SELL 3 Pack?!

I have been looking for some LSD (low shelf discharge) d cell nimh cells for my defiant 3D

To save my life I cant seem to find anywhere where I can buy a pack 3 of them. They only appear to come in blister packs of 2.

I found one battery retailer that sells individual cells but they want anywhere from $13 to $16 for ONE battery! Yeah right! (when a blister pack of 2 is ~18-20:money_mouth_face:

anyone else in a similar boat? I suppose I could just buy 6 and have an extra set… but that would involve spending $50+ on batteries for a $25-30 light.

I don’t know if these are exactly what you need, but they have enough Power to run my TK70 on Turbo Mode and I also have them in a 6 Cell Maglite with a LED adapter in it. I use the Maglite from time to time and though the same Batteries have been in it for about 3 Months, they’re still reading 1.27Volts.

I doubt they are actually 11000Mah, but they have been working well for me and seem to hold their Charge for a reasonable time. They may sell them in smaller Lots.
Hope this is helpful.
Cheers

EXACTLY! LOL.

i might try these… thanks

Maybe you could buy two packs and sell one cell to someone who also needs only three.

thats also another good idea, but after shipping and a drive to the post office not really worth it…

i found some reviews of the ultra cells on google … they only test to 4000-5000 mah capacity

maybe ill just bite the bullet and buy 3 packs of 2 and just have an extra set

my varapower 3 runs on 3x d nimh or 4x c nimh… ive been using 4 c’s

i guess with 2 sets that are lsd you can just leave them on the shelf and not worry for a long time

What are the cheapest 8000mAh-ish D cells? Ideally I would like at least 5 but I suspect it’s going to be expensive.

These are not LSD but the price is much better than you mentioned. I have 18 or so in various lights sitting around the house. I top them off every 6 months or so. Approximately every other top off I’ll run them down a bit first, in my 5D Mag with TerraLux TLE-310 it will still run for hours on high even 6 months after charging. In camping lanterns I’d never get them fully depleted for recharge.

I know they’re not the advertised 10,000 mAh but I think even if they’re 8,000 the self discharge is fairly insignificant.
And best of all they’re located in CT.

Probably the cheapest cells at around 8000mAH would be the Tenergy Centuras. They cost around $15 (or so) for two of them. And they are 8000mAH LSD batteries. Tenergy Premiums cost around the same price on a per cell basis as the Centuras. But the situation with those is even worse in that you can only get them in fours or singles. And you pay ALOT for singles.

Hmmm, cannot fine anywhere selling Tenergy Ds in the UK at a decent price and shipping from USA is very high…
