dangerous beamshots - Set #1 - random

I tried taking some beamshots. I did not do a great job. There is no control shot and the white balance got messed up in a couple shots. The pictures are slightly less than what I saw. I guess I should have used a longer duration for the shutter speed, but I already took them, so here they are….

NEX-7, .8”, ISO400, AWB for all - 115M to the tree line. I tried a treeline that was 300m away and I couldn’t really see anything that far. I aimed just above and between the posts at the end of the field. 90% humidity, bright moon.

That headlamp looks like it throws quite far. Is it practical for you? I prefer flood for headlamps. BTW nice shots, thanks.

Thanks for sharing. Interesting comparison between lots of different types of lights.

Nitecore EAX have an interesting beam pattern, I kinda like it. Never had anything with a reflector like it. Does it look strange in real life? How would you compare it to a traditional reflector? At the range used, it looks like its got a nice balance between wide range illumination like a flood light, but at the same time good range.

great photos dangerous!

Wish I could take night shots like that. Nice line up of lights you got there.

This headlamp was $7. I think it is very nice and practical if you want to use it outdoors. It is not a traditional headlamp as they are usually floody, but if you want a very concentrated beam, I find this headlamp to be very nice.

Yes, it does look strange compared to the traditional reflectors, but I do find the wider profile to be very useful. It is a very usable beam and makes the most sense for 2 emitters. I’m surprised it is not more common as I’d prefer li-ion with this reflector.

Hmm, exposure and W/B differ from pic to pic. Does not feel like 300m to me.

Exposure was fixed. The treeline in the pics was 115m away.
