@ Boaz, there appears to be a few diffrent versions, 80 lumens and 120 lumens (or maybe the same one?) .
The 180 I thought at first just come from a google search when I posed it here, it was the first result.
Also a diffrent one shows me its 2 modes and not 3, and a picture of the business end shows this.
I think the 3 smaller LEDs are for low and the middle one is for high.
Not very good by todays standards but it was a $80+ light back then, but even recently I have bought lights with less output than this for more. (Tank TK-566, Thrunite T10 for 3 times more)
Also no idea if it will take 18650s, still I think its a pretty nice for $9.99.
I wouldn't bother if you are chasing lumens per dollar or don't have the right batteries for it already.
I think it's th esame as this one ,, not the twin task 2 L .. just the task 2 L.
My guess is no they don't take an 18650 .. the voltage is lower and the battery is fatter 16 mm vs 18 mm
they probably won't take 2 16340's either .. it's strictly 2-cr123s that you can almost bet on.
The lights are nice .. my friend has a titanium 3AA..I was just looking at that one on ebay ..it's tough as nails but it's such a POS because it's so old ...but he's beat it like a dog and it took it so you have to give them credity for making a tuff light ....and who doesn't love a side clicky
Just a heads up, Botach doesn't have the best reputation as a dealer. Personally, I consider them to be the Dinodirect of the US based tactical vendors. Lots of bad reviews out there for any that care to look. Just my two cents.
I avoid CR123s because of expense, and never being able to find them when in need. I consider them a hassle i no longer care to deal with. Looks like a nice light to stick in the car for emergencies though. CR123s have long shelf life so this would make a good cheap bug out bag light. Streamlights i have owned have been top quality.
I have ordered from Botach half a dozen times over the past 5-6 years and never had a bad experience. They shipped my last order so fast i didnt even know what it could be because i wasnt expecting to get it so fast. As far as i have experienced, Botach has been great. No complaints at all. Ymmv.
I have both a 1L and the 2L TwinTask light circa 2004. A 18650 will not fit the 2L. A 17670 will fit, but a 4.2v level is not even high enough to light up the 3 nichias. In other words, primaries only and they would only be used partially. I could use them in my L4 or my arc lsh when the 3 nichias wouldn't even light up. Ontop of that, there's a parasitic drain that's too high to be acceptable....especially with cr123 primaries.
Perhaps more modern versions have been made 17670 capable...definitely not mine. 2004 was when I started using 17670s in my sf L4. I remember trying them in every 2x cr123 light I could find...but realized not many could utilize them.
The Tasklight 2-L (not to be confused with the Twin Task L2) came yesterday. It has a single emitter, (Luxeon 3), 2 modes (H,L), takes 2 CR123's (nothing larger), the reflector is OP on the half nearest the LED and SMO on the rest, and it has the best feeling finish of any of the 60-odd lights I own - including the Solarforce L2T that had been my favorite. It is VERY well made, typical of Streamlight. For 9.99 I really like it a lot. Not the brightest, but respectable and bright enough for most things except the WOW factor. The tad of rust the seller mentioned is negligible on mine. Thanks, ezarc, for the heads up on this.
Two lights just dropped into a tuff plastic bubble wrap bag ..but nothing to keep them from bouncing all over each other on the ride across the country .
nice to have something show up in 3 days ..< one of the only reasons i want to relinquish my blf status ...3 day shipping ..
Very nicely built light that needs a mod ...[ deserves a good mod ]
Agree with Boaz, for 10 bucks this light was a steal. It's just a nice little worklight. You could probably mod it into a thrower, but I have enough of those. Think I will just use it as my garage bench worklight.
