Dedoming my 7G5 went wrong. How to fix it?

I tried to dedome my 7G5.
The dome fell off and the small wires left the LED too.
Now the 7G5 is dead.

Is it right, that all I have to do is to exchange the damaged star with this one here:

Just solve the cables from the old star and solder them to the new one?

Is there anything else I have to mind? Anything else I have to get to do that? Paste or something like that?
Is there any other LED that would be better?

Desolder old star, remove star, clean up the pill, apply a bit of thermal grease, place new star solder cables and try if it lights up.

The linked led is a XML U3 which has a nice warm tint when it is dedomed. without its a bit blueish.
There are now XML2 available which are a bit brighter than the Normal XMLs.
And since the 7g5 is hardly driven it makes sense to think of using a copper star with an reflowed xml2 on it to get the maximum out of it…

Actually it's greenish with an outer blueish edge, stock.

You can buy the copper star from intoutdoor and reflow the xml2 by yourself on it.
Xml2-U2 is available from illumination supply.

If you like a 5000K tint, int-outdoor sells a xml2 3C tint mounted on a copper star. That would be my favourite fix :-)
