that is a weird looking message. in all my years in the UK I have never heard that a package could be “short” on postage paid.

I let it go back.

Thanks for the heads up! I’ve had a few unpaid postage or import taxes, all look super dubious but turned out to be legit.

Does look legit at first glance but if you read it carefully, you’ll notice that the grammar is incorrect. “A £ 1.00 shipping cost have not been paid”.

Yep, a real Royal Mail payment request always comes from your postman or on a card through the door (assuming you’re not using their app or anything, which I refuse to do on principle).

The last payment request I had was for a Jaxman order last year. The package got held at the local delivery office and the postman put the card through my door.

You can pay online and get it delivered to the door if you want, but I just took the card to the delivery office, paid the customs fees and got my package on the spot.

Sometimes things get held at Customs instead of the local delivery office, but they’ve always sent me a payment request on a card through the post as well. Pay online using the details on the card and the package arrives a few days later.

For some reason, Customs take weeks to post their payment requests, I’ve no idea why. My local Royal Mail delivery office are great, they have their stuff sorted within 24 hours!
