I very recently got this little WEP 946D hotplate. It’s the perfect size @ 100x50mm for reflowing mcpcbs etc.
I’ve been waiting on some soldering redflow paste, but it 's taking too long to arrive. I got a little impatient and just used some 62/36/2 Tin/Lead/Silver No-Clean solder I had sitting around, with some kester 951 no clean liquid flux.
It worked good, I think. Time will tell.
Reflow temp was 202c.
I used the plate to desolder the emitter from a 20mm mcpcb.
Process was fluxing the contacts, then applying solder to them. Once that melted, I set the emitter on top.
Once the emitter flowed into place, I tapped it and shot the excess solder out the sides, then picked the excess up with a toothpick. Looks pretty clean.
Do you think it will be an issue having not used the proper solder paste?

It does turn on.
I am running it with a 3amp 7135 board.
I added 1 extra 7135 380ma to one of the chips.
Checked it at the tailcap with my dmm and it is reading 3.42amps.
It is in a convoy s2+ host.
It gets about as warm as I was expecting.
I ran it for a good few minutes on 100% until it got a little uncomfortable to hold onto.
It seems good.
