Bought from antique store. It is different from the ones that I have seen in the past that were shaped like spheres. Anyone know what the purpose of these flat bottomed ones? Railroad maybe? Or just a different type of highway torch meant for the same thing as the sphere shaped ones?
Maybe it is for frost protection: The dense smoke from burning oil was thought to insulate fruit trees, particularly citrus, from frost damage.
