Dirty Emitters on cheap lights.

Upon inspecting some emitters of my Ultrafire C3’s with a 10x loupe, I found they were not perfectly clean. Looks like flux residue or just plain dust particles or glue…? I went ahead and took the lights apart and polished the dome with some Mother’s Plastic Polish and they look nice and shiny now. I checked some of my more expensive lights, and the emitters were clean.

You’re lucky the domes didn’t come off. If you have a dirty emitter you should just clean it with a lint free cloth and alcohol. Flux dissolves in alcohol so it’ll be a much gentler process than physically polishing them.

wow… yes they didn’t come off… I did use a micro-fiber cloth and gently rubbed them… didn’t know about the alcohol trick.

I have bought a few that are filthy inside, its the worst when its the reflector or dome. One that I own, the reflector doesn’t seem possible to remove without special tools so the dust stays in there.
