Hi all,

I’m trying to get a sort of “all-in-one” solution to have an affordable Flood+Throw combo using a bicycle clamp. (I’m just using a cheap one I got from Wurkkos, next step will be to find a smaller/lighter one)
I know it may seems a crazy idea but I think it’s an easy way to manage two flashlight with one hand.
What do you think?
Has anyone ever done this before?

For the flood beam I choosed a Wurkkos TS22 with XHP70.2 5000K and I’m looking for advice on a good small powerful thrower.

Temporary I fitted the Wurkkos TS10SG but I’d like to put something more powerful that can reach at least 600m.

I would prefer to stay on a 18650 unit to contain the weight but I can evaluate also a 21700 option if it will not be too big and heavy.

As a first step up from the TS10SG, I was considering a TS11 (with optional 18650 tube) that is currently on sale for Wurkkos anniversary at just 21€.
What do you think?
Any better option in this price range? (around 30€)

Thanks

How do you plan to use the flashlights without blinding others?

Hi raccoon, sorry I’m not sure I got what you mean…
I’m not planning to use them on a bike, if you mean that.
I will put them in my cargo pocket or in the backpack and will use them normally as I would use a normal flashlight.

I just used a bike clamp to connect the two flashlight in a handy way that will allow me to tune their position to have them pointing in the same direction. (it would be non possible/robust just simply tieing them with straps or paracord).

I can simply operate them with one hand.

If I will go with a thrower with side switch I think I could use my ring finger to operate it.

:+1: Understood.
The SFT40 is the most practical throwy emitter that provides usable spill.
There are emitters that throw further, but they don’t provide much usable spill, and they might not be as bright.
Another idea is to get a flashlight with an LHP531 emitter, which simultaneously provides flood and throw.
It doesn’t throw nearly as far as the SFT40, though.
It all depends on how much throw you want/need.

The point of considering this ugly but functional DIY assembly is to get the best of both flood and throw in the most affordable way. Creating something that is still operable with one hand.

Also it allows me to update the combo with zero effort.

Considering a maximum cost around 60€, there is no option that can come closer to the wide even flood beam of the TS22 and guarantee good throw in one unique flashlight. It’s always a compromise.
Well…there could be the TS32 (that I’m tempted to buy anyway), but it’s definitely a different league.

That’s why I’m now looking for the best small and cheap thrower to combine with TS22.
At this point it can be a pure thrower with no spill, because if I need, I will use it together with the TS22 that will outperforms any spill from the thrower.

HS21/HS42 won’t do? Either can do spot, flood, spot+flood, and red.

One’s a ‘T’-shaped headlamp but can still be “palmed” (I usually do that) and the other’s an ‘L’-shaped headlamp that works wonderfully as a right-angle flashlight.

Okay, then look at the SFT25R and the emitters commonly known as W1 and W2.
I don’t know the pros and cons of those three emitters, though.

By the way, I have a Sofirn HS20, which is a headlight with a floody emitter and an SFT40 for throw.
It’s my headlight of choice. :slightly_smiling_face:
