Hey guys got off work today and went to a garage sale and found a nice digital multimeter :) its a Snapon EEDM525D but the fuses are blown but still works/ turns on, my question is what kind of fuses do I use ? It says on the DMM 600v/10Amp and the other 700v/500ma?????? Can I get these at my local HW store ?
Radio Shack for sure. looks pretty nice with bargraph too. http://image.snapon.com/international/pdf/eedm525d_npa.pdf
500mA Ceramic, UL Fuse EEDM525D6
10 Amp Ceramic, UL Fuse EEDM525B7
If you want full safety when using the meter on the mains, get the ceramic fuses.
If you only plan on using it at low voltage, you can use glass fuses with the same ampere rating.
Thanks I'll try radioshacks and see what they have
The fuses for my Fluke 189 were $12 bucks each. I hope the Snap-on doesn't use the same ones.
I check my local radio shack but they did not have anything for it :(
But would any one no of a good online store that sells the correct fuses for my DMM ?
What is the size of the fuses. A very common small size is 20mm in length and 5 mm in diameter.
Note: The fuses are only used when measuring (milli)ampere, i.e. all other ranges will work correctly.
I'm not sure because they do not have any in the DMM
And they usually blow when somebody tries to do something wrong with the multimeter, like measuring amps directly on a powersource instead of in series.
nitro.. short of ordering 25 dollars for 2 fuses from snap on you should be able to get a 1/2 amp and 10 amp fuse ceramic rated 250v fast blow should be fine glass will work too. worst case it blows sooner. Amps are amps regardless of voltage .. not talking about voltage gap jumping ie lightening strikes / power spikes.
