The only reason I can think of for the “dead” is battery is put in backwards - that is, negative is inside.

And thats not the case. I know how a battery looks like, so I know whats + and -.

Next easy one is short the tailcap switch — connect body and battery negative with paper clip.

Strange, both lights is dead now. The 8x7135 worked when I tested it, the other was dead when I tried to test it. Tried seveal different batteries in both, but both is dead now.
How could this happen? The 6x7135 was not tested before, so it can have been a DOA, but the 8x7135 was tested and worked fine yesterday.

No, this won’t happen. The Convoy C8s have reverse polarity protection.

Found the error, yesterday I took the pictures, and then I have turned the tubes on the 6 x 7135. Then I tried to change tubes when the 6x did not work, and then I put it back the same way it was, on both = 2 dead lights. Just turning the tubes, and two working lights.

Anodizing on the tailcap threads - tailcap side threaded into head? If the tubes don’t thread in far enough to contact the pill, then that would keep it from working…

In your pics, I see the lip inside the head is anodized as well, so the machined aluminum lip on the tailcap side of the tube doesn’t have a conductive surface to seat against…

No, this won’t happen. The Convoy C8s have reverse polarity protection

It wont kill the light, but it certainly can make it not function.

Do you mean by “make it not function (while the polarity is reversed)”? If the battery polarity is corrected, it should work again, right?

Yes… that is my understanding. Inserting the cell backwards just causes it to be inoperative, doesnt short out the driver or emitter… switch the battery back around, light works.

Like putting the batteries in wrong in your remote control for the tv…
