I do. Especially in the winter, spring, and fall. Got a wood stove and plenty of wood just in case.
I wish we would quit area lighting up the whole planet. When I was little, the Milky Way was so clear in the sky. Every year, it seems fewer and fewer stars are visible. I miss the glorious night sky.
We had a power outage here about 2 weeks ago, the whole town went black at about 1am until 5am.
There is about 36 people that live in these apartments and for some reason they all decided to go outside (pretty much directly in front of my apartment) and start complaining about it to each other.
I turned my Glaree/Sunree C3 lantern and bounced 2 other lights off the ceiling in different places in my apartment.
I also had full charge on my tablet and smartphone so I was able to play games and browse the internet.
While people were complaining outside heard someone saying something along the lines of “how come his lights are on?” but I just ignored it.
If it was friends or family I would have loaned them some of my lights but I try very not to be friendly with anyone here because they are always having dramas.
So it really depends, I don’t want a blackout to show off my lights but I do enjoy one just to use them myself. It makes me feel better about the money I have spent on this hobby.
We even have a bunch of 18650 based USB battery packs and we can charge our phones and tablets probably for a week just off those. And a couple of the power packs are solar. Not to mention the inverters. I could probably plug a table lamp and laptop into my portable tire inflator and run it inside the house all night on an inverter. A power outage wouldn’t dare hit our house
