Do you hope for power outages so you can enjoy your lights?

And show them off to family and friends when they are at their most useful?

Nope. No matter how useful we think it is, they will still think we are wasting a lot of money.

Not tonight………
We have a big storm coming thru and it is hot and very humid.
So I would have to get the generator out to keep the AC running.

But I do have al my batteries charged and ready to go

It'd be nice to have a power outage when it's cool, but they usually happen when it's hot.

huge storm here too, i recharged a few batteries just in case, i usually keep them partially discharged for extended lifetime

Yes, power outages seem to happen when it’s crazy hot, or crazy cold!! {8^0)

They have about 2500 out of power about 20 miles from me.

They should have most of them back during the night.

Funny thing is, since Ive bought a ton of lights, the power hasnt gone out ONCE! I live in the thunder storm capital too!!! Screw you Tampa!

Black outs suck no matter what. As well as wanting AC, I need my internet to work.

Instead, I look forward to camping trips! Lights come in very handy there.

one could argue that is a voluntary blackout

Do you live around Hamilton, Ontario? The lightning is giving quite a show over here right now.

Yup, on the money.

Voluntary black outs are great.

i do sometimes. lol i have so many LED lanterns that it looks like the power is still on in my house from outside.

I do. Especially in the winter, spring, and fall. Got a wood stove and plenty of wood just in case.

I wish we would quit area lighting up the whole planet. When I was little, the Milky Way was so clear in the sky. Every year, it seems fewer and fewer stars are visible. I miss the glorious night sky.

There are some nights I can't see any stars at all from my house even if the sky is clear.

As much fun as it would be, if it's more than a couple of hours it doesn't make up for the loss of the AC, TV, computers, refrigerator and freezer.

I actually have been secretly hoping for power outages. But we stopped having them right about the time I became a flashaholic :frowning:

Actually I sometimes do wish there was a ‘short’ power outage so that I can get good beam shot on my newly upgraded flashlights. LOL!

Anyway, the power outages in my place usually last 2 to 4 hours so its not really a big deal for me.

We had a power outage here about 2 weeks ago, the whole town went black at about 1am until 5am.

There is about 36 people that live in these apartments and for some reason they all decided to go outside (pretty much directly in front of my apartment) and start complaining about it to each other.

I turned my Glaree/Sunree C3 lantern and bounced 2 other lights off the ceiling in different places in my apartment.

I also had full charge on my tablet and smartphone so I was able to play games and browse the internet.

While people were complaining outside heard someone saying something along the lines of “how come his lights are on?” but I just ignored it.

If it was friends or family I would have loaned them some of my lights but I try very not to be friendly with anyone here because they are always having dramas.

So it really depends, I don’t want a blackout to show off my lights but I do enjoy one just to use them myself. It makes me feel better about the money I have spent on this hobby.

We even have a bunch of 18650 based USB battery packs and we can charge our phones and tablets probably for a week just off those. And a couple of the power packs are solar. Not to mention the inverters. I could probably plug a table lamp and laptop into my portable tire inflator and run it inside the house all night on an inverter. A power outage wouldn’t dare hit our house
