does anyone have a 5x Q5 trustfire tr-1200

could you please tell me in without the third extension, when using only 2x18650’s is there alot of space left on the bottom where the tail cap screws in.
mine has about an inch of space, so it seems like the second extension is too long.
when i put in 2x18650’s it powers up, but when i shake it, it will either switch modes or will blink in this weird way.
not strobe, not sos either. just a constant slow blink.

anyone else have this problem or know what my issue is? im thinking the batteries need to be longer to accomadate all that extra space before the tail cap.
i tried panasonics, sanyos, and ultrafires, i have some xtar’s but theyre not with me at the moment.

I use unprotected laptop-salvage flat-top 18650s in the 2x configuration on mine and have never had any issues. Protected and unprotected both fit great. I guess maybe you got a different batch or a different manufacture...

(not that I recommend unprotected cells... I've VERY careful to not run them down, and I don't really use this light any longer since I have the V2/King/S7/C8/etc... I used to have 2x protected cells but I moved them to my V2 and haven't looked back)

I have one, it's all been altered by now but didn't have any contact issues when stock. The front positive spring on the driver board is really long, like around 1" or so, but really soft. Check that it hasn't collapsed or stuck or done something else weird.

It's pretty pathetic with the stock driver & series-wired LEDs, my ordeal of transforming it into something useful here: https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/15387

i dont have any unprotected 18650’s. do you think that may be the reason? i really think its the contact issue.
yea this light is actually my brothers, im posting for him. i gave him that light before i joined this thread, and back then, about 2 years ago, i thought that light was very bright.
but you know what, i still compare it now with all my lights, and its still not a bad light. still bright and throws pretty far with decent flood.

it is still sorta contacting with that mammoth one inch gap because the brass plunger from the end cap is pretty long and mainly because there is lots of thread on the end cap so it takes very long to screw it down, so thats how its making contact.

you know what, now that i think about it, im pretty positive its contact issue’s because when i shine the light down, it will change modes or do that slow blinking thing. but when i shine up a the ceiling, it will work fine. so basically, when im shining up, the batteries are probably falling down the tube to make contact with the end cap.

i asked my brother was it like this 2 years ago, and he said no. so maybe its all because of the spring from the driver being weared down. but why does it do that slow blinking thing?? its not even in the modes. its like the sos feature, but without the last two blinks. its just a constant slow blink.

Yes, the stock front spring is A LOT softer than the tailcap spring. Weight of the batteries when pointing down is breaking the contact at the tailcap. Stuff the front spring with something... like a wad of braided copper solder wick.

ok thanks for the tip
