Wondering about this light. Does anyone have any experience they would care to share about this light for how bright and how good of a thrower it is. I already have 2 Keygos lights and I am sold on the quality. Just as good as Trustfire in my opinion. I'm thinking about adding one to my collection.
Considering the performance of the KE5 I'd say it's probably similar to the Trustfire X8 with a reflector size between that and the X9 (although closer to the X9). Basically you might get X9 type performance with 2x18650 operation and at X9 price. Okay, we'll just say it's a combination of the X8 and X9 then, haha :D
Well I'm thinking it's going to be a winner. I'm thinking hard on it. But I need to save my money on what I really want and that's a custom Mag Lite built with a SST 90 that ought to be a real thrower. And then of course there's the 12 XPG one that I would like to acquire as well maybe later for a great floodlight.
The lumen claims are pure nonsense. A very well sorted and heavily overdriven XM-L won't give close to that much. If it creeps over 1000 lumens, cell life is not going to be good but that won't matter as the LED will burn up first.
Thanks Don. I know that is overrated on the lumens. But if it is close to say 900 lumens it ought to be pretty good. That big head reflector tells me it ought to be a real thrower.
But it's bigger so it must put out more lumens!!!
Seriously, I sometimes think that's the angle they're going with to claim higher lumens. It looks similar to another model they make but this is bigger and uses twice as many cells. If the other puts out "1000 lumens" then 1600 is a reasonable claim in comparison <----- is what the seller hopes the prospective buyer is thinking ;)
Basically you get closer to the X9 in the throw department but with 2 cell operation. And you're already familiar with the performance and quality of another Keygos model so maybe this will be worth it to you. It'll also probably be driven harder considering ~2.4A with the KE5 vs ~1.85A with the X9. Go for it and share the results with us! :)
Well I just bought it. Won by 21 cents with 2 seconds left. I think that's a steal right there. And free shipping.
Should turn out to be a pretty decent light for the money. I'm really curious to see how it turns out. Congratulations!
Hey thanks. With a 55mm head, it ought to be a good thrower. I'm just wondering about the lumens. But I'm hoping it's around 800-900 lumens. If so, I should be happy.
That's why I like using ebay to buy some lights. Heck I even got some good batteries off of there at good prices.
But now I need to concentrate on some better custom built lights that I want.
funky light there..
Yea and hopefully it will be a funky thrower.
Could anybody please give me information of it? I won one for $29.
How does it perform?
Don't know. But don't try unscrewing the head from the tube like I did you will strip the wires from the led emitter to the driver if you do. They have it loc-tited, but I wanted to see like I do on all my other lights the internals.
that's not problem for me, I will repair if this happen, but I can't imagine how does this happen?
Could you please make a picture from the internals if it is possible?
Let me check my pictures to see if I still have it.
Well if you notice in the ebay link the head isn't unscrewed from the tube like on a lot of lights. The driver is attached to the body tube with a either one or 2 wires going to the head with the led emitter. If you unscrew the head from the body, the wire or wires probably will break off from the driver. I can't remember how it actually was set up, but E1320 has yet to fix it. And he thought it would be a simple fix.
I sent the light to E1320 on here. You might pm him to see. But last I heard it's unfixable.
okay, that means, I have to desolder the wires from the led first, after that I can unscrew the tube without damaging the driver, wires
Well I was just passing on the info. Didn't want you to do what I did.
