Same body but different LED on E-Bay.
V-Shark Cree Q5 7W Flashlight
and
Dorcy High Beam LED Aluminum Flashlight
Also very similar to a Saik SA-9

yeah, i think this is it. are these decent or junk. g
Junk.
I have one branded Ultrafire, picked it up for $5 or so I think. it has a floating pill design, so zero heat sinking and you wouldn't want to run it for more than a few minutes at a time. It's no brighter than the Citipower AA version or the SK68 clones. Also the 3x AAA carrier is junk - mine would not even work with the light, only runs on 18650 that rattles inside the body, even with the sleeve. Finally, it's a 3 mode: Hi-Low-Strobe and about 7 levels of zoom.
If I can help you save $5.99 not to buy this, I will have accomplished something good today.
EDIT: Holy Crap, I just noticed the item # on ebay you linked to. They want $38.99 for this POS? I will definitely have done my good deed for the week if I can save you that money....
+1
and watch out for other floating pill zoomies. all are junk.
thanks guys, my search for a good 5 watt 940nm ir flashlight will continue, may just have to start with a host and bulb, but i am a seriouse newbie and dont know where to go from there
i don’t like P60 lights, but that might be a great excuse for them - you could have 2 drops ins…a regular white light and IR light, and the latter is easy to make (just buy empty drop in, driver, emitter and you need a soldering iron…)
I have this light and it is indeed a budget light, but can run on either 3 x aaa or 18650. Not a bad thrower for a zoomie. I’m just not crazy about the zoomies anymore.
