Yes, it works great. I use it for everything. You can actually watch the whole video on youtube that’s included with it before you buy it. You will wind up watching it before you use it anyway- so why not watch it before you buy it? It pretty much sharpens everything you have. I even sharpen a kukri blade with it. Here you go!

I can testify to the technique. Years ago I found ceramic rods, so I used a Forstner bit in the drill press, with the bed set to half the angle, to make holes to mount the rods. The rods cross before they enter the holes so there’s ceramic all the way down. It’s easy to hold a knife Plumb, and the angled holes take care of the rest. That works great for non-serrated knives!! Full disclosure: I despise serrated knives, so I never use them, but SWMBO loves them. Sharpening them is like sharpening a tiny saw, which is far too tedious for my old eyes and back! This Sharpmaker just opened that door for me!! My homemade rig may get retired soon!

I guess about the only drawback is that it only offers a 30 or 40 degree sharpening angle. That might not please the most very finicky of blade enthusiast. But the video addresses why Spyderco believes these are the two most useful for most knife owners.
