don't know which lamp to choose ...

Hi, i’m looking for a led torchlight for my job, I would like a tactical torch like the klarus xt11 but very more powerful and compact. My budget is max 100$, with or without battery.
The utilisation will be to do all the things of a french policeman ( gendarme ) especially the night :-). I think you are more qualified as me with the torchlight !
Moreover, later, I think I will buy the trustfire ak90 but I don’t know if it is cool … but actually, this is not the problem !
Sorry for my bad English, thank you,
Best regards !

What batteries do you want it to use? 2x CR123 or are you using Li-ion such as 18650?

Welcome to BLF. Your english is a little off but no problem to read, you’re doing fine, lots of non-english speakers here, you’ll fit in well.

I think the 18650 are better as the cr123 that’s right ?
Thank you !

you are mentioning two very different lights:

- Klarus XT 11

  • Trustfire AK 90
these are totally different lights, one is 1x18650 single xml2 and the other is huge (4x26650 in series!!!) with 12 xml …please tell us are you looking for alternatives for klarus or for trustfire ?

yes, i now, i’m looking for an equivalent of the klarus XT11 with more powerful (more of the 820 lumens claimed), and a compact tactical torchlight, I will use it for my futur job which is “Policeman” (gendarme).
I have mentione the ak90 because i will buy it later.
I hope you see what i want …

18650’s can deliver much more current than CR23’s and are rechargeable.
Look at Convoy M1 flashlights. Much less in price. No drop/waterproof rating though.
Fasttech, Banggood, Gearbest all sell Convoy.

The S2, S2+, S3 are all smaller than the XT11 and about as bright. And you can customize any of the Convoys at this site. M2, S2 and other models are waterproof/drop tested. Just ask Simon.

There might be some 1X18560 lights a bit brighter than the XT11, but not one (as far as I’m aware of) has the advantage the XT11’s tactical 2 rear switches which is best for your application.

You probably want to be focusing on the 1x18650 lights. I think any larger form factor is going to be too large to carry around for a full shift.

This light has two rear switches but is not as bright and is $$$$.

Yeah ! this is true, but for exemple with an M2 of Convoy, I can for exemple put the Strobe mode in memory …

But for the moment, i will go sleeping and I will compare the lights you gave me !
And I have a question with the convoy, for exemple, with the M2, if I take the XML2 T4-7A and 7135*8 circuit, i have more of the 860.6 LM write in the product description ?

I am not sure about the exact lumen output. But close to 860 lumens.

ok, and I have seen the srt7 of nitecore, is it a nice torchlight ? and does the blue led shows the stain ( my name is stain … ) of blood ?
thank you !

Nitecore P20 is not bad at all if you might consider black instead of greyish looking XT11, similar with strobe ready/secondary tail-switch mode changing feature with selectable law-enforcement, tactical and general grouped modes, my partner had a P10 which is a compact version with smaller head diameter, great size for plain shirts carry, he already dropped a couple times and its still working like a champ, been serving him on and off duty everyday.

Plus there is also a P20UV version if your work might requires.

And what about the nitecore srt7 ?

Yezl Y3 try with this one,its very bright, option B is just fine + AR lens. It can use 1/2/3 18650 or 2650 depend what you need for.
Also CRELANT V6CS is very good. Both lights are cheap but top quality !!!

I think the UI is very important for your use. I would look for a flashlight capable of momentary on (for short bursts at the same level and not worrying about mode change), and even better if it is capable of pre-selecting the mode from OFF.

This Eagtac T25C2 is nice and also can be upgraded with the lamp module for different beam type, later technology, different tint etc.

Same with the G25C2:

They both come with optional kit, which has a nice flip-on diffuser and extension tubes:

For more power in a yet a bit compact format, I would go for 2xXM-L lights, like the Klarus XT20:

Please, buy good quality 18650 cells and a good charger. I suggest Nitecore i2 or i4 if you don’t want to spend much, or Xtar VP2 if you want the actual best.

My advice would be to stop worrying about max output, one can hardly see the difference between 700 and 800 lumens, what you probably want to focus on is the UI (interface utilisateur) that will best suit your intended use and go from there.

There is a long inconclusive thread on CPF about the tactical use of strobe that you might find interesting, or not.

You probably want a UV light to search for blood traces.

PM me if you feel it will be easier to speak french.

why not spend 20$ and buy a BLF special edition light ..if it's good enough to get 1000+ members to buy it .Don't you think it's worth trying for 20$ ?

I haved finish to bought the Jetbeam 3M Pro with the promotion of dinodirect, and i have received it today. It’s a very nice torchlight, and I will probably do some shoots in the dark and post it in this forum. And probably compared it with the Klarus xt11 (820 lm) : the old XT11 820 lm ( in grey/brown ) with an XM-L2 and the new XT11 820 lm (in black), with the new XM-L2-U2. To compare them ! I think it could be cool
Edit :
PS: i haved esitate with the convoy M2 and the klarus xt11 or klarus srt7. And i have bought an i2 from nitecore and 2 Trustfire 3200 mAh 18650 too !
