27 flashlights, and 45 18650 batteries later, I'm done with purchasing! Most my own, but many gifts too!
I've run out of vehicles, offices, nooks, crannies, and drawers to fill.
4 of my last ordered flashlights have arrived DOA, intermittent, or trashed. No mo'.
Last one was a TR-1200 (legit) that arrived intermittent, and scarred badly.
After ordering big lights, small lights, so-so lights, not-so-so lights, my one favorite has to be my funkyfire STL-V6. It is light, powerful, and works perfectly on my Marauder (or off) for night sorties, or just lightin' the hell out of whatever gets in its way.
It's been great on this forum! Will check-in off and on, but will prolly lurk in the shadows.
Thanks to our esteemed owner/administrator, for such a GREAT place to hang-out! There is no better light forum, than this one!
I hear ya. I think I reached that mountain top a while ago. I just love to check in here twice a week to see whats up, not so much as to open my E-Wallet but to see whats new and read the posts of the personalities here. Light related or not, there are some good people here with varied views on a number of subjects and I can only feel enriched to some degree after reading here.
I see forums as something in this "new" age of communication as horrible mis-information but also on the contrary wonderful places to have virtual relationships that in some cases turn into real life encounters.
The little car club I was a part of was just a forum in the early days...
It is now an international network of people organizing meets all over the world.
If you see a post that interest you or have something to add or say, jump in!
I feel like BLF is not just a place to learn and buy "happy paypal button" It's a place that is just cool to hang.
EDIT: So no farewell here, check in and well wishes to you in all aspect of your life. Just remember to lurk BLF :)
Sure would hate to see you wander away but for sure I can tell you that when new stuff starts making it to market or the high end premium tricks like variable magnetic ring tech hits the budgets you'll be back for more wallet abuse. What you need to do is start selling or trading those excess lights and make room for new ones.
Ric from CNQG just got a bunch of very nice looking magnetic ring torches in stock at really nice prices. They are stepped output, not infinitely variable, which doesn't really bother me much. The problem with them, and what makes them a no sale at this point, is a horrible low of 25% brightness. I am hooked on ultra lows and will settle for 3 lumen but prefer <1 lumen. 500mAh low on a 2A light is WAY too bright, especially for an XM-L.
about 80 for the whole kit (2400mah, mp1, case, light). I forget the name but I wouldn't recommend the seller. Looks like they took the light apart. Had a problem w/ it, talked w/ xtar, was going to ship back, decided to fix it myself. The licensed sellers are also perform warranty work - I think they screwed me - quality product though.
that's going ok - waiting for the right mood to tap two holes, then I'll do a review w/ pics - including the innards of the light engine since I've had it entirely apart
Sounds like you may have bought too many cheap crap lights to try out, instead of a few better quality ones to fit your needs?
Ive been pretty lucky I guess. My first light the Xtar Outrider was pretty good. 2x18650s, 700ish lumens. SST-50.
Since then Ive had great success with my itp A1, then the quark miniX 123 with RCR123 that I use to this day.
I got some flood to throws from ebay and I really like them. Got 2 as bike lights, and gave several away.
For 20 bucks got an MC-E light to go on the wife's bike.
Then broke down and got a TK70 after much deliberation. Didnt like the looks of the DRY and the awful canister feel. The other triples seemed crappy, especially when looking at beamshots. Im glad I got the Tk70 cuz the universal smart charger is super helpful around the house for baby toys. And its huuuge throw really makes it unique. Just a big wall of light wouldn't have been as impressive.
