DQG Tiny 18650 Battery Options

Hi All

Because the DQG Tiny 18650 has started to roll out and many BLFers are starting to receive them I have started to read the initial impressions and reviews. I haven’t received mine yet and only have Panny and Sanyo protected 18650s…. so it looks like I may be looking for new batteries.

I thought it might be a good idea to put together a list of 18650s that are useable with this light?

Also, thought I had read somewhere that someone had sanded out the rough machining in their light to make a battery fit (can’t remember which type), but this may be a viable option to increase the number of useable batteries?

Thanks to Chicken Drumstick’s review we know his EagleTac 3100mahs fit…

Can other DQG Tiny 18650 owners chime in on the batteries they are using?

Also, state protected or unprotected, and colour of light (black or titanium)…

Post and I can update the list…

(I am still a total newb at this stuff so if this ideas is a pointless exercise because I’m missing something glaringly obvious (not to me), please let me know and I can delete…. ;))

Thanks!

I’ll put the colour in brackets, if applicable. (Ti - Titanium, B - Black)

(I decided to put the list in the second post for easier editing)

Tried my 2500 protected eagletacs tonite and they work just fine. I tried my 3400 protected Keeppowers too - a no go on them. It started going in, but was starting to get real tight so I removed it for fear of getting it stuck in the light.

Interesting question.

Titanium DQG tiny 18650:

Protected:
Blazar NCRA3100mAh button top: No, do not even start to go in.
Intl-Outdoor NCR18650A button top: Go in, very tight, but torch does not turn on, possibly too long.

Unprotected:
LG DB1 18650 Green from Dell laptops: Perfect fit, light functions normally.
Sanyo UR18650A Red laptop pulls: Perfect fit, light functions normally.

updated… keep em coming!

My Keeppower 3400s without the battery label/sticker goes in fine.

I don’t doubt that. Once mine got to the label is when it started getting tighter than I felt comfortable proceeding with it. So yeah delabled, mine would likely fit too.
Tried another battery. A Panasonic PD 2900. Fit with room to spare.

Ok:

Fasttech Sanyo 2600 protected

Trustfire 2400 Flame

No go:

Xtar 2600

Tennergy 2600

Trustfire 3000

Any cell with a rewrap

Ok… So I received an email from RIC this morning…

He suggests Panasonic NCR18650 3100mah. CNQs link .

I luckily have a pair that I ordered a while ago from FT….

According to my measurements my Pannys are up to ~18.58mm along the kapton tape for the protection circuit, and ~68.89mm length… I really hope they fit!

I have the Titanium DQG Tiny.

I tried a XTAR purple label 2600. If you take the paper label off and clean off the sicky it barely fits in, but wouldnt work.

Im currently running the MARSFIRE 2600 (fireworks label)protected, and it fits with room to spare.

Hi,

Basically, all of the batteries that I’ve pulled from laptops the last couple of week have worked including blue and green 17670s (a surprise) and the gray NCR18650s from that “new” Fujitsu laptop packs.

do you have the actual length of those 17670s?

The Trustfire is too long, the green Panasonic (with transparant wrap and protected, from Fasttech) is too long and too thick. The others fit fine.

Great! I get to try out the new calipers I just got  :

lengths: 66.43 - 66.47 mm
diameter: 16.94 mm

BTW, when you measure the battery length, do you have to be careful not to short the + to the -, i.e., is the caliper conductive? I was careful, so I didn’t get to “test” that :)…

Thanks for share this info, I will order one of this but I will wait a month or so…

great! thanks!

yes… this!! lol!!

FWIW none of my protected batteries will work in mine; not Sanyo Protected 2600s (which someone else said worked in theirs), not even Tenergy, so I ordered a couple pf the Panasonic 3100s from Fasttech.

Work fine on DQG:
Panasonic 2900 (unprotected)
Panasonic 3100 (unprotected)
AW 2600

Thank you tolight for starting this thread, what a great idea it’s an awesome reference page! BTW I looked at the panasonics you have under your Protected list and they appear to be unprotected batteries.

Since the Fasttech Sanyo 2600 protected fits then this one should fit as well: Fasttech Sanyo 2800 protected (same diameter and .02mm shorter)

Anyone know if the fasttech protected Sanyo’s fit the Ti version?
