Dragon driver changes modes with a medium bump. I’ve already check the battery fitment and pill is firmly secured in the host with foil. Other people have alluded to this being a common short coming of some drivers and can be solved by potting.
Can anyone confirm 1st hand that potting a driver will fix this issue?
Does your dragon driver have a brass post or a spring?
It has the spring? I should have specified that direction of bump doesn’t matter.
I’m certainly not an expert on potting but I’ve built several lights with a dragon driver and haven’t seen this issue.
I have seen bumps change modes on lights, but all of those lights had a post on the driver.
I’ve never seen a double spring (driver and tail) light have this issue.
What host is it in? Are the driver and tail switch retaining rings tight?

Yes I wondered about the button. More compact, but less robust in my eye.
The host is a p60 using a CWF pill. The driver is press fit and issues happens when bumped from multiple angles. I was considering using a tad of silver epoxy tone sure a good connnection.
When you shake the flashlight, do you hear any noise?
The mechanical switch driver switches modes by briefly breaking the circuit, and this can happen if any part of the entire host has a bad connection, whether it’s a loose switch or driver, or the battery is too short.
This is where I would start.
Is it press fit into aluminum or brass?
If brass, I would solder the driver to the brass.
If aluminum, I would solder some thin wire to the back of the driver like so:
This way when the driver is press fit, the thin wires will contact the aluminum.
No it does not. Battery fits snug, there is no side to side movement. Pill is shimmed with foil. Switch was tightened. Also tested with a depressed switch.
The pill is aluminum. Actually the edge of the pill was peened so that the contact is very solid. Not sure I could remove it without damage at this point.
I changed some host parts around and determined that the switch spring isn’t under enough tension. Thank you for the suggestion
