I like the wide flood beam it produces. It is perfect for my use. I don’t need a thrower. I need to light up a larger area. In the flood position there is no hotspot, just bright light. The trouble is that the driver sucks. It changes mode each time one operates the switch unless the light is left off for a very long time. I would like to replace the driver. I am new to moding but this light was cheap and I don’t mind having a run at it. Are there any suggestions for a driver that will work with the 2X18650 power supply.
But I have this light myself and I just dont feel like modding it myself, but that’s possibly because I dont like zoomys, you’ll also have to check on the heat sinking of the pill, 3a might end up frying the emitter.
The little seat the driver sets in is 22mm. Here are some pictures of the setup. Thermal paste is advised between the back of the star and pill? If I swap the driver should I move the spring to the new driver? It is soldered to the existing driver.
Well this has all been a good learning experience so far. Thanks for the input. I see now that there are two separate components involved, sometimes combined into one piece and sometimes not. The contact plate and the PCB. I am wondering if a 21mm contact plate will work in the 22mm seat. I am concerned that a 20.5mn contact plate would be to small to sit on the small ledge machined into the pill. I found this which might fit OK but I am not sure how I would connect it to a PCB. Maybe this would be the ticket. It has a 21mm contact plate.
finding good driver 22mm is very dificoult…but this is not the problem here is the solution
of course you must find the right dimension…
what driver you sugest…it must be 8.4V and 2.8 - 3A. the diameter is not a problem (it must be less or equal 22m) the problem is high
there is not much space…what you suggest??
