Driver recommendation needed: 8.5V in, XPL, 3+A, 1 mode

Hi guys,

I would need recommendation for driver with this characteristics:

- Input V up to 8,4V (it can but does not have to support 1x18650)

- up to 22mm wide (best to be under 20mm)

- made for 1 x XML2/XPL led

- output current 2.5A and up (3A would be good, 4A would be superb, stock or with resistor modification)

  • able to be modified for only 1 mode (100%)

over discharge protection is highly desirable (something like blinking when under 6.x, turn off when under 6V or so…)

Thank you

DRIVER

Here is an option, sorry it doesn’t have any smarts to it.

This driver should meet all your needs. It has all kinds of options that look like they would work for your application.

LD-40? LD-2.4A?

zpinch - very interesting driver, thanks.

tru3s1lv3r - this one is even better but price… I need that driver to repair cheap Police flashlight that was about 25$ together with crappy cells and dangerous charger.

kiriba-ru - LD-40 is it this one > Loading... LD-2.4A this one is from that russion guy on ebay, right?

Thanks guys I will check out this drivers later today when I get home, I already saw those LD-xx drivers that work with 2 cells but they are all multimode so they will require some magic to become max mode only, I could probably remove MCU a solder a jumper between PWM and VCC pins but then I would not have low battery warning…

No-no.
Drivers from ebay are very good but they are not suitable for flashlights.
LD-2.4A are similar to LD-40 but have other modes. There should be links to both in the thread with LD-40 discussion.
