Driving 3 LEDs flashing with 555's

I have a 5 metre strip of RGB LEDs and I have lost the driver for them. I know that the power consumption is 0.4A a metre. For this job I am only using 2 metres.

I want each colour of led to flash followed by the next then the next, so only one is ever on at a time. There was a function for this but it’s lost.

I have lots of components laying around can someone make me a schematic of tell me how to make this happen

Oh yea and I only have till tomorrow at 12pm…

The strip has four wire coming of it, positive, and the ground for every colour.

Thanks
Tom

Here is the picture, you can just cut it whenever you want then they are the terminals to connect to

Yea that’s great thanks, can you find one that ships to the uk. And I need it for tomorrow so it’s not much help. Thanks anyway though

Sorry I can’t help you build a driver. I’m not sure what kind of shops you have out there, but you might want to try car customization shops or gadget shops around you for an led strip driver. I know I wouldn’t find any around here though.

It’s funny. I’m in a similar predicament as you. I decided to install LED strips under my car just for S&G’s. I would like to finish them by new years for a party I’m going to. But I just need the driver. It’s all up to the post man now.

Yea it’s really annoying, I have two drivers. One broke so I fixed with the other one using the parts but I then lost the fixed one… Not the best luck

For a car, I don't think you need a driver. I have a about 3 foot strip on my car as a interior "dome" light for a couple years now. One of those water-proof RGB jobbers. I have door open for hours on end on at times when I'm working on the car. No driver and no problems yet. They do get quite warm and need to be attached to metal for heat sinking.

EDIT: Just thought of an issue. The light in my car is usually on e when the car is off. So I'm generally only feeding it 12.6v. Running, the car will generate 14.4v or higher.

I’m pretty sure I could hook them up as is. I even thought of one switch for each color. But The driver will be a lot easier and I’ll have all the “useless” modes. I’m in no rush. I’m not exactly sure what Moomaneast is using them for.
