I see what happened. There are two o-rings and I just re-found the second o-ring on the floor. I had the one for the glass/lens in my hand and dropped it on the carpet and I reached down to get it and must of grabbed the second o-ring thinking it was the same o-ring that I had dropped. I am in a home theater room with dark walls and a black ceiling and its fairly dark in here. I was wondering how a o-ring would shrink like that. It was messing with my idea of physics. Well it all turned out well.

I got an email from Ric tonight. My torch was one of the ones returned by customs. He is shipping it out today/tomorrow and promises me a tracking number right away.

What was the reason for return? There must be a reason? Did customs just not feel like accepting packages that week? Anytime we return international packages at FedEx we specifically give a reason why (usually lack of paperwork)

I believe it didn't get processed before CNY and was returned. He didn't really say exactly.

I just received an email from Ric too, mine was another of the unlucky that did get back form the custom. Unknown reasons.

Ric said it will be resent today and a new tracking number provided.

<<Just like it said in that movie, shit happens. Not going to hassle why custom sent it back. It's something that happened to me before, buying completely different items (car spare parts mostly) and everytime without apparent reason.

I've bought from Ric before and have no reasons to doubt his word.

Can anyone suggest some protected batteries that fit the new metal cage of the DRY? AW 2900 will fit, but are too expensive for me to justify buying 3-4 more. Trustfire flames barely fit, but are pretty tight. Xtar 2600 protected, Hi-Max (WOW) protected and and Trustfire flame 3000 protected don't really fit without risking breaking the battery cage. It seems like a notable flaw when most of the batteries I have won't work in the light. The old clear plastic battery case was a little rickety, but fit all of those batteries fine. Maybe I'll just order one of the old 3x18650 battery cages like this: http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/flashlight-component-battery-chamber-for-18650-p-6404

[Update: It looks like people are discussing the battery issue here with similar conclusions: https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/5742 ]

Still no Dry. It's been stuck in NY Customs since the 23rd. Should I be worried??

I ordered three and they got returned to Ric too. He is sending them out today or tomorrow.

Probably two weeks to reach NY and then another ten days in NY customs- I guess I will see them by the end of Feb.

I don’t have my DRY yet but looking at the pics of it, can’t you just add a washer or two under each post at one end of the cage and screw it back together to add a few mm to the cage length. Any battery should fit fine then.

Batterys of good capasity and price http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/protected-trustfire-18650-37v-3000mah-rechargeable-batteries-2pcsset-p-7941 These were talked about on another thread and tested in another. Fit in a DRY and are of good to excelent quality.

Trustfire 3000's fit but barely..it doesn't break the cage lol

I chatted with Ric last night and he said 7 lights were returned by customs.

He was asking what kind of improvements could be made for a newer version. I guess he's really interested in this light. I suggested he figure out a means for better gripping.

EDIT: I also mentioned the issue of reaching the switch with an overhand grip.

I would like to see the tailcap be changed to allow your thumb room to turn it on and off easy (see the dry tailcap modding thread)

Also extend the battery carrier a few mm for protected cells.

I fixed my battery carrier to allow use of protected cells without forcing them in. Just add some small washers to extend the carrier about 1.1mm . I think these were 3mm washers?

Great fix you performed there. Also nice to see that I haven't heard of any DOA's with this light.

Glad to see my idea worked.

lol! was that your idea??? I had no idea that was your idea.

Oh yeah I forgot to put that in my post. I also mentioned the switch is a bit difficult to operate in overhand grip. However, I linked that to the lack of solid grip so maybe simply applying a better grip surface might alleviate this issue a bit. Then again, I'm a little taller than average at 6'1" so my hands might be a little bigger to match. Maybe grip won't necessarily solve the switch issue. Either way, I mentioned both.

Has anyone else of the last 7 shipped received any tracking info yet?

Nope, still waiting.
