Doesn’t look like it’s DTP, & the copper based one’s that I’ve bought from FT previously have not been either.
definitely not a DTP star
Looks like DTP to me.
That ‘bar’ in the centre is much more raised than the + and - traces.
This one too:
In both cases, it’s not mentioned in the description though.
Would be nice to have some 1mm thick ones.
What does one look for to identify DTP from an picture?
If it was DTP, the center pad would be copper.
those center bars are typical for non DTP stars to increase the surface conducting the heat through the dielectric
No they’re not raised higher than the printed circuit on non DTP boards.
And normally they have a larger surface area when the centre is non DTP.
You mean most DTP are not pre-tinned (as in a thin layer of solder, resulting in silver looking pads)
In this case we see a raised centre bar.
Ah, yes - some are pre-tinned.
The Noctigons & a Deusch(?) board I have are not, but I just found an old Maxtoch which is tinned.
With these FT boards in question, if they are not DTP, it’s possible to manually cut out the center-pad, so the copper core is exposed. Fiddly, but do-able.
I had such a board a year ago the center pad was not DTP, it is likely 3oz copper on it and 1oz on the electrical connections
I ordered ‘such boards’ recently: 16mm copper 3535 1mm thick, they are not DTP.
They look normal, not with raised centre bar.
I guess your boards don’t have raised centre bar either.
But we can guess until death, so i asked the question on Fasttech forum, no answer yet.
Maybe i will buy a some next time.

I have an MCPCB that looks exactly as that one.
I believe it came from Simon last year but he never put them back in the store when reopened after holiday.
This one is 1.6mm thick and is DTP.
Also just found the same on BG listed as Convoy.
1pcs Convoy Thermoelectric Detached Copper Circuit Board For XP-L HI/XP-E/XP-G/XP-G2 LED
Does this look like it is really DTP?
i asked the question on Fasttech forum
I recall going down that path when they first stocked the copper-based boards years ago…. unlikely to get a straight answer.
As you say, buying some will be the only way to find out :+1:
Just get a real copper MCPCB from mtn electronics or intl outdoor, then you won’t have any doubt about it actually being DTP.
Thanks for the replys , I just checked it with a multimeter and there is a short between the centerpad and the copper on the Base, Does that make it a DTP?

Yes, it certainly does.
